If a black actor auditions and is the best at being like Bond, and is the right age, and has or can do a British accent, then there's no problem. I don't think that it would hurt ticket sales. Snipes and Murphy have been huge action stars and I always thought that Washington would have made a good Bond if he could do the accent
Race doesn't bother me. Sexuality does. The sexuality of the actor doesn't but I wouldn't want Bond to be anything other than straight.
Back to the question:
Pierce Brosnan. Too pretty, wrong accent and a light voice. If he ran at me with that snarl I'd stick my leg out and watch the ponce fall over and squirm. Yes, I did watch the films but I awaited the day when he was gone. But now he has gone I can appreciate that he helped the franchise during a difficult time.
In the past:
Lewis Collins. Too oilly
Sam Neill. Too ordinary
In general,I would watch any actor play Bond if they portrayed the original character with respect.

Could be worse ...Keanu Reeves......
"Dude.....the names....uh....uh....uh BOND, ya thats it, James Bond!"
Nicolas Cage: "Hey man, I'm James Bond."
More worse than this?:
George Clooney : " My name is James Bond , what else?"

For 23 and 24 any other actor apart from DC - after that, I might be open for another..
I'm with you on this one. If they replaced Daniel Craig now, before the end of his run, it would be a disappointment.
That would probably put me off seeing it in the cinema. I'd wait for the DVD probably.

Orlando Bloom
Robert Pattinson
Daniel Radcliffe
Shia LaBeouf
...I can go on and on...
Any actor out there that looks more pretty boy than a British Secret Service Operative does not need to be Bond and would make me turn away from the franchise. Although I always thought Jude Law is the spittin' image of what Ian Fleming's James Bond looked like(In My Opinion). The thing is he made it a point that he doesn't want to be hired for pretty boy roles anymore and for that he has my respect and does not fall into that category! Jude Law as Bond would be sweet!

I agre 100%Well, it would have to be an actor, not an actress; and basically any actor who was non-white would be a game changer for me. He'd also have to be reasonably tall and without physical handicap (like, for example, being a midget). It seems ridiculous to even have to mention this, but I remember media commentators suggesting that when Bond came back from exile after LTK, that he should re-emerge as as "she", or as a black man. I have no interest in seeing the role rewritten that dramatically to the point where the fundamental, core essence of who Bond is is sacrificed for political expediency and correctness.

Adam Sandler
Eddie Murphy
Christian Bale
Ice Cube
Paul Walker
Shia LaBeouf (Does not fit the Bond role or the James Bond hair cut, and destroy the role altogether)
Chris Tucker(Will destroy James Bond forever)
Colin Farrell(A ok actor, Bond is really not for him at all, must stay away)
George Clooney(good actor but does not fit the James Bond role or the hair cut at
all, could destroy the role)
Nicolas Cage (A good actor, and keep doing what his doing now. But stay away from Bond)
Kiefer Sutherland (A good actor, but stay away from the James Bond role)

Anyone wanting to discuss the Christian Bale Blow Up can redirect themselves to this thread: http://debrief.comma...showtopic=53193 (split from this topic)
As for any actor who would stop me from seeing a Bond film. I can't think of one. I mean I'm a Bond fan first... so any actor, though I may be more happy with certain actors as opposed to others, is not going to hinder my enjoyment of the film/franchise.
(now if Angelina Jolie was cast as a Bond Girl... I don't know if I could condone that... but that's a different story, lol)

George Clooney, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon...
I think you see where I'm going with this.
So almost everybody from Team America: World Police? Matt Damon!

1. Sean Penn (I've never seen a single Sean Penn movie - except maybe Taps - he was in that I believe)
2. So and so
3. What's his name (you can see how important these last two actors are - I can't even remember their name).

(All of this is theoretical admittedly, as Penn wouldn't go anywhere near the franchise!)

He was crap.

Why do you feel Sean Penn diminish your enjoyment of a movie if you haven't really seen him in anything? Obviously he couldn't be Bond himself, but I think he's a terrific actor and could do very well in a support role.

He irritates me politically.

So does So-and-So and What's His Name (in case you were curious as to why I wouldn't want to see them in a Bond film either).

I would be all in favor of seeing Sean Penn on board for a Bond film. I can only imagine how great it would be to have someone of Penn's quality as a villain facing off against Craig's Bond. Perhaps Penn as a Scaramanga-type character in a more faithful adaptation of Fleming's The Man With the Golden Gun.

No Americans please!
Also, I've heard people say that Daniel Radcliffe might do it when he gets older. Complete bull[censored].

That lets out Pierce Brosnan then.I think we need only people who can pull off a good accent.
That would put me off. I think I'd have to watch any Bond film, because it's Bond, but if Brozza were to come back as Bond I might have to take a fair amount of Valium to be able to watch it.
