Not that there's anything wrong with The Rock. But he's american and should be the next big action star alá Stallone / Schwarzenegger and the likes. Not Bond.

Agreed. Instead, he's doing cute Disney films.
Dwayne, what are you doing?!

I wouldn't mind Dwayne playing a henchman, after all his uncle was the goon who fought Connery in Osato's office in YOLT. As long as they don't let him be goofy, he's physically imposing enough to be a credible henchman who could have a great fight scene with Bond. I'd like to see a classic Oddjob/Jaws style opponent where Bond is completely outmatched and has to think on his feet to survive.

Certainly there are hypothetical choices out there (strictly hypothetical which will never be realized) that would confuse/pissmeoff to no end, but I’ll give any actor a chance. Hell, even after I decide an actor never really deserved a chance, I still give him chances.
006: “For Bond, Judo?”
JC: “Damn right!”

I'm going to have to.....disagree with you there and say that I think 50 Cent could pull it off.P. Diddy , Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson , 50 Cent, Eminem and what-you-got rappers, former show wrestlers and the likes.

Or let's just say that a 50 Cent James Bond would be too hard to resistant viewing.

My thoughts exactly. If they ever hired someone to play Bond that wasn't English(like how they almost went with Bert Reynolds for Diamonds Are Forever in '71) i would be super mad and i think it would be hard for me to feel comfortable watching it...

So you have trouble watching Connery (Scottish), Lazenby (Australian), Dalton (Welsh) and Brosnan (Irish). Moore and Craig are actually the only English Bonds.

I really would hate to see Tom Cruise, but that's just because I don't like Cruise. As for anyone else, well, they couldn't be any worse than Madonna, could they?
If they brought back Connery or Moore to play M, I think that might spoil things a bit. Then again, it might be interesting to see. But what's interesting from a fan perspective isn't always what's best for the franchise, really. One must think of the bigger picture.
For England, after all

Nah, i don't have a problem watching them because their accents are similar enough. Im American and i would hate an American accented Bond.

BUT, a while back when people were singing praises about Clive Owen jumping into the role, I was cringing. It would not stop me from seeing the film but his presence would be much more than just a tad irksome in my favorite film franchise. I would also shed a tear if Jude Law was in the role… his whole ‘lifeless stare’ I hate, and as a woman, I find him appallingly unattractive. Same with James McAvoy.
As for Bong girls, if I see Jolie or Zeta Jones in the role I’ll wait till it comes out on DVD. I refuse to pay money to see them on the big screen in Bond. I can watch Jolie in anything else, but just not Bond... please just not Bond...

Definitely I'd have a second thought if they went with the likes of Jolie, Lohan, or Paris Hilton, well basically the majority of American actresses. No thanks!
Halle Berry was the reason I refused to see DAD. Maybe if she hadn't boasted they were spinning her character off I'd have gone. The focus should have been on Bond, and it wasn't, it was on her character and I couldn't get past it. Not that she's a terrible actress or anything, the hype around her was a turn off.
Remember that horrifying Olsen twins rumour?

I've got nothing against American actors as such, but Bond is supposed to be British. Irish and Downunder actors can pull it off, not North Americans.

Definitely no American actor wanted as Bond.

Actually, I'd only want a Scots/British actor to play Bond, not that I'm biased, but it's a matter of heritage and pride for me.

Damn! good point there ImThemMoneypenny. Do you guys imagine the Olsen twins as Scarlett and Poppy!? No!!!
Oh yeah that was a tense couple days for me when that rumour hit! Those two, man I couldn't even contemplate something so scary as them anywhere near a Bond set!

im australian but i still dont like the idea of an australian playing bond - that job should be kept for a british or scottish gentleman.
and yes - i would definately be annoyed if an american got the role as 007 of the British secret service!
