WHO WAS that blond stunner who froze forks mid-air at the posh Primola eatery in N.Y.? Oh yes indeed, it was Daniel Craig, 007 himself. The studly Daniel was accompanied by his producer Babara Broccoli. (She is the daughter of Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, who co-produced all the James Bond films until his death in 1996. Barbara took over and now has a "license to film.") Daniel and Barbara talked about the next Bond epic, part of which will be filmed -- for the very first time! -- in New York. Primola itself will have a little cameo. Maybe Daniel just wanted to see if the restaurant could handle those shoulders of his. The Bond film ready for release this year is the oddly titled "Quantum of Solace." After that, James Bond goes bad -- Daniel is in the midst of filming "I, Lucifer." He plays Satan. Hmmmm...going to Hell suddenly doesn't sound so bad! I know people who know Daniel and they say this actor is down-to-earth, funny and friendly.Poor, forgotten Live and Let Die.

007 in new york is as bold as the Hildebrand Rarity or Quantum of Solace.
As for Bond being in New York in 23 i'd be fine with that.

Don't forget that Bond movies tend not to do too well when it is set in the US. I guess US audiences may not think the US is exotic enough for Bond to be romping around in their own back yard.
You seem to forget GOLDFINGER was set in Kentucky. I know it wasn't filmed there but you know what I mean. Also DAF and LALD were both highly successful.
007 in new york is as bold as the Hildebrand Rarity or Quantum of Solace.
I think the later are more bold then 007 in New York, it sounds like some day in the life story which exactly what the short story was.

I thought parts of GF were filmed in Kentucky (Lexington, Louisville, Ft. Knox)...just that some of the exterior shots of Ft. Knox were filmed in England....I really hope it's true.

I must say 007 in new york is not a title I actively want however seeing some of the fan art and fan logos of it I can't say I'd be diapointed provided it would be a ONE TIME THING (please no 007 in Danbury Conneticut or 007 in London England)
Would i name a fan work or anything i did 007 in New York no but I can't say if the announce that as bond 23's title i'll be pissed off or upset.
As for bond being in new new york in the next film i'm fine with it as it seems like a good location for Craig's bond (so long as it's not a remake/readaption of Live and let die)

QOS hasn't even come out yet and they're already location scouting for the next one?

Bond 23....they need to finish off Bond 22 still. This New York restaurant are just dining out on the fact that the Bond team ate there, no trust whats so ever. Just because it's Vareity dosen't make it gospel.

New York would be great though. Too many cool locations to pass up.
I'll take Liz Smith with a grain of salt. She's either a "hit or miss" in my book and always has been. I'm not doubting that BB and Dan were seen having a meal, but revealing or hinting their plans....Long shot.
Still, would love it to be true. NYC is fun. Had a great time at the BCW in '05.

Not only does this article seem like complete bull[censored], they totally missed out on the fact that parts of Live and Let Die were filmed in NY, as someone already pointed out earlier in this thread. Plus there is the last line "the oddly named Quantum of Solace" is all the proof I need!
Yeah, this article has all the warning signs; not one single quote directly attributed to Babs or Craig. factual inaccuracy, and who exactly were they giving this "scoop" to? When has EON ever gone location scouting this far in advance? We didn't hear about any QOS locations until a couple of months before filming.

I am not sure about the title 007 in the New York, however.
Still, it's interesting to see snippets like this.

In my opinion that would suck! I don't know why but I simply don't want to see Bond in New York!

You guys need to bone up on your Bond history. If Bond 23 is coming out in 2 years then there is nothing unusual about Eon investigating locations now. Eon has a history of scouting locations even before the writers start work. Remember Eon and Tom Manks trip to Iran for TMWTGG? Read Christopher Woods book. They were all in Rio long before he started work on Moonraker. Michael France went to Russia well before he started work on Goldeneye. Etc.When has EON ever gone location scouting this far in advance? We didn't hear about any QOS locations until a couple of months before filming.
Liz Smith is an old hand at this kind of thing. I'm sure she knows Babs personally. She has nothing to gain from making something up. Does it mean Bond 23 will location in NY? Not necessarily. Nothing came of Eon's Iran scout. But I have NO doubt there is some foundation in fact here. Variety is not a tabloid. Sure, they didn't go out of their way to investigate Liz's background facts (obviously), but I don't believe this is a tabloid style fabrication.

Liz Smith is decent source. I'd say we have our first real piece of Bond 23 rumor/news.

Sweet tagline.
I agree, good work.
And yes, it seems that it is plausible that they would be scouting locations now, with 2 years before release. In the past, I would bet that for every location they use, they scouted 1 or 2 more.

For the record, no-one ever suggested “007 in New York”'s title would be used - it was just the perfect headline for this article.
If only some interviewer could ask Broccoli and Wilson if they're seriously considering any of the leftover Fleming titles, including this one.

Thanks for the info, zencat. There may be something to it, but with no specific quotes from anyone concerned, this sounds like the restaurant trying to drum up some business - Hey, James Bond dined here! The fact that the restaurant may be considered for a cameo in Bond 23 doesn't strike you as fishy? As in, not only now do we have New York City, but we've already got a scene at this particular restaurant? Next we'll hear they've actually filmed Bond 23 already and this was just the wrap party

Yeah, that is a good point. The fact that the restaurant may be considered for a cameo in Bond 23 doesn't strike you as fishy?
In my imagination, I see Liz Smith at the restaurant, she sees Babs, goes up to her table and says, "Barbara, daaaaling. What ever are you doing here with this bee-u-tifable boy? Got a scoop for me, daaaaling?"
But I can also imagine her hanging out by the trashcan blowing busboys for information about who's inside.

Perhaps poor Liz had too much wine and pills that day or really got confused like she usually does. Variety is tabliod ,But on the other hand since the producers have copied the BOURNE films with their latest 007 film, New York city would fit to be on their minds as the BONBOURNE series continues.
Just out of curiosity, were you also calling the Bourne series "BOURNEBON" when The Bourne Ultimatum was shooting on the streets of London and the rooftops of Tangiers?
