Why is it so hard for MGM/Sony/UA/Eon to hire a professional to do covers?

What a pathetic attempt for updating those covers for the 21st century.
Maybe I am crazy but I just dont get it at all.
Why the big emphasis on the gun pose.
It is obvious that whoever did them was in a hurry and didnt give a

If you want to see how it should be done, look to "The Lord Of The Rings" DVD's.
That in my humble opinion is the standard that everyone should try to achieve. They are put together so well and the extras are as good as the films themselves. Almost.

More lightheartedly, maybe it was Roger Moore's agent, as he comes out the clear winner, with Connery suffering the most (by numbers) I think. And anyone notice the 'hair job' done on Tim for Licence to Kill? Hilarious!

My only hope is when these come out the older covers get marked down and I can pick the set up at a bargain somewhere.

- Lazenby and Connery both looks like cartoons on the OHMSS and Diamonds Are Forever cover.
- The picture of Bond on The Spy Who Loved Me cover is from The Man with the Golden Gun.
- Also the picture of Bond on For Your Eyes Only's cover is not from that year.
- They still used a picture of Bond from Ocotopussy for the A View to a Kill cover, and this one looks also teribble photoshopped.
- It looks like Dalton cries on The Living Daylights cover.
I actually think the special edition covers where the best (for so far). This is simply amateur photoshop work.

I know they are not all good photoshopped, but they're by far better than these new Ultimate Editions covers!

The first time UE covers were beautiful, and I am so glad I got them.
These look cheap and nasty with very little effort in them. Lack of imagery, colour, style and actual real photography..just bad photoshop.
A sad turn indeed.

I don't see what's the point of rereleasing them anyway, especially with new cover art.
Just rerelease the old UE's.
Seconded. These covers cheapen the entire package. I havent been this annoyed at a DVD cover since the Die Another Day Special Edition which didnt match the other 19 DVDs.
Will there ever be a day where we get the complete set of films with a bit of consistency in all 22+ films?

Interesting.
And we still have an Octopussy image of Roger on the cover of A View To A Kill.
Interesting?

They're downright horrible. Why would Eon let this happen? Some of them are fine but most of them are horrible and make Bond look like a homosexual. Nothing wrong with homosexuality but James Bond isn't that way inclined.
And Thunderball should have Bond with a spear gun. Blasphemy!

Christmas is the main good Bond girl. It's naturally up for debate, but I view Sophie Marceau's Elektra as more of villain. Why would they have Denise Richards on the TWINE cover over Sophie Marceau as the main Bond girl?

Erm... You do know that the SE DVD Cover of Die Another Day, has a reversable cover that matches with the first 19, right.

Why are they being re released again? They were only just done? I thought the ultimate edition was the final release on DVD. What is so new with these then?

Can I ask,
Why are they being re released again? They were only just done? I thought the ultimate edition was the final release on DVD. What is so new with these then?
I agree. I already have those UEs so why would I waste money buying more of the same?
However, I guess it's like book collectors buying reprints of the same book over and over again.
Cue zencat, et al.

With Quantum of Solace coming out in theatres, the Collector's Edition of Casino Royale coming out, plus the Blu-ray discs, why not re-release the DVDs to make even more money?
That's my assumption of what they're playing at.

The UK quad posters for 007's would be ideal & also with a little 'foil' would still look 'modern'!

I am sure they are not even consulted on this, just that the DVDs are going to be rereleased yet again. They are to busy with QoS to deal with that. These new covers seem to have upset just about everyone...I wonder what Michael G & Barbara think.Maybe someone who can pass on the displeasure of the fans.I think Sony or Fox will be more interested in what they think.I would also say that the Blu Ray covers are not that appealing as well.
As for the displeasure of the fans, it hasn't stopped them before. If they had then maybe they we'd have had the original posters by now.

Indeed. In all previous cases, there was often a general consensus of disappointment amongst fans about the design of the covers, but these trashtastic white things? Beyond horrible.
