Thanks for the heads up! I appreciate it!

I'm really curious what MGM and Fox have planned for Bond. Hopefully they start giving us a few more details soon.

It does make me wonder if they will at the very least feature new packaging..

It would be nice for MGM and Fox to spell out what the blu ray plans are.

Oh well. 2012.

The wait continues......

So anyway, what with the James Bond Blu Rays being re-released for the 50th Anniversary. I hope we get loads of deleted scenes! I want to see the cut minutes of Die Another Day!

I like the extra's but I could easily settle with the films being presented properly and in decent packaging (with no shoddy photoshopping as we saw on some recent DVD releases). I hope GoldenEye and AVTAK are correctly framed, OHMSS has a decent sound mix and there is no edge enhancement on TSWLM. It would be great if Thunderball could be cleaned up as well.

I have a feeling that Thunderball is about the best it's going to look without doing a lot of re-painting shots frame by frame. Lowry tends to not do such things unless it's a case of a blemish in a handful of frames. Thunderball, on the other hand, has full minutes upon minutes of terrible vertical scratches on the negatives... at least that's what I would imagine due to their current state on Blu-ray.

I'd definitely like to see it as pristine as the first three, but I'm not going to hold my breath by any means.

Now c'mon, MGM and Fox and get those Blu-rays out first quarter 2012... don't bother to wait until a month before Bond 23, you can save the complete series of James Bond Jr. on DVD for that timeframe. ;)

Me neither, but it's a shame this glorious sixties widescreen epic doesn't match the perfection of the first three films.

I am currently in the process of making custom Blu-ray covers for all the James Bond movies with the poster art as the inspiration. Attached are just a few of the images:

I've received a lot of tips and suggestions from some very experienced individuals in the custom cover design community and they were extremely helpful during the week and a half it took me to put a template together. Some things I thought were a good idea just did not work and some I thought were bad ideas work much better than I expected.

My plan is to work Blu-ray covers for all the Bond movies for my own enjoyment and to share with anyone who would like them. I've already received a number of excited PMs from members of a number of sites for the full size high res images. They will all be available for a free download from one of the custom cover sites - the site which was the most helpful in tips and suggestions for the template.

Please note, the credits still need to be worked for the "Octopussy" cover.

They look excellent. Please keep us informed when they are finished, and where we can download them. They may turn out better then what we actually get when the Blu-rays are released again next year.

I wonder if they will keep the cover design consistent with the Blu-rays that are already released. I would not put it past the studio to change the cover design in the hopes that some fans would rebuy the movies they already own to ensure their set looks the same on their shelf.

One of my challenges was finding high resolution posters for all the covers. My minimum resolution requirements are 2000 x 3000 pixels which would have proved challenging but then I happened across a website that had all the Bond movie posters in high resolution.

Incidentally, you'll notice that I put together a custom cover for Never Say Never Again that was in line with the other colors, just without the number on the spine. That has raised the question from some quarters if I will do a matching custom cover for "Casino Royale" (1967), to which the answer is yes - I've already collected the artwork necessary.

I'd bet the covers will change, maybe something even with a 50th anniversary logo. I also bet they will be released in stages as box sets as well, with the yet unreleased titles incorporated in the different box sets so in effect we have to buy the blu rays we already own again in order to get OHMSS TSWLM and TLD etc on Blu.

Although I've already bought all the films on VHS, laserdisc and DVD (twice) - I won't be buying any more blu-rays if they do this.

I love the custom covers, but I'm going to pass on downloading them as I've already fallen in love with the Zinema collection.

Someone over at r1db did Zinema Blu-ray versions for the movies already released on Blu (haven't seen one for CR '67 yet) and I'm just hoping that all of the rest of them get done by the time the remaining 9 movies are released.

I'm sure that whoever did them could just make the rest of the covers with the DVD bonus features listed on the back as all of the Blu-rays have included the same special features as the UE DVDs, but I guess they want to make sure that they're accurate before finishing their work.

But, once again, awesome job on the covers!

That's fine. I'm doing these covers mostly for my own enjoyment anyway so it really doesn't matter if people download them or not. I was just tired of MGM releasing lame photoshopped covers when they had some great poster art out there. Maybe it was a royalty thing, but I personally think the Bond movies have some of the best poster art out there.

The attached Moonraker cover is a WIP (Work In Progress). I'm still toying with different Title Treatment colors.

Personally, I'd be tempted to leave the titles off the front - leave them just on the side.

I don't think there's been any official word from MGM yet, but here's the scoop as of last January:

http://www.thedigita...ocentsa188.html

Sometime between now and the holidays next year, MGM will start releasing the rest of the classic Bond films that are as-yet-unavailable on Blu-ray. For those of you wondering why they've been so long delayed, it's because MGM Home Entertainment has been waiting to tie them into the release of the next new film.

Hi Trekkie.

BTW I got rid of that blue background you didn't like and managed the fade that Imrahil suggested. But I have a new quandry, namely which of the following two cover designs works best (and that's a question open to anyone). I know the TT colors are incorrect, but I will use the eyedropper tool to correct them:

I'm guessing the blu rays are coming in October or so of 2012. Hope I'm wrong, but I think they will wait until they gear up for Bond 23.

At this point, I hope they just redo all of the blu rays and add some new features. Trailers, tv spots and radio ads for one.

Moonraker only has 1 trailer. No tv ads or radio spots, etc...

Other than some jaggies around some of the renders, everything is perfect! Do you know how to use the "refine edge" tool?

Also how about we start a new thread, totally dedicated to "custom covers" for DVD/Blu-Ray as to not clutter this one? B)

I noticed that the @ after AVC for the bitrate (on the DAF cover, at least) is not actually after but rendered in the same spot as the AVC (in front or behind, I can't tell), so it's all a jumble.

I must say that otherwise, though, I'm liking the covers more and more. Definitely keep up the good work!

And I also agree that this should probably be put into its own "custom covers" thread.

I've had a number of CBNers ask if the file title (e.g. DAF is listed as Final) means that these covers are ready for download. All of these covers are a WIP (custom cover speak for Work in Progress). When they are all completed I will post them all (likely at Imageshack) for anyone to download.

Walmart has Volumes 1, 2, and 3 of Bond on Bluray for $20 each:

http://dealnews.com/...s-h/501231.html

Each set has 3 films, so $20 for 3 Bluray titles is a great price.
