I find all those first person shooting games where you can wander for months not knowing where to go boring (thought I understand people into games might like them).
It's much better when the game unfold in parts like a movie.

The game will be roughly split between the two films, but all of the poker action from "Casino Royale" will be consigned to cut-scenes. Set-pieces in and around the hotel will be slightly expanded to give the player more action. Bond's naked torture scene at the hands of Le Chiffre is also said to be on the cutting room floor in order to secure a lower rating for the game.

Shame. Playing through the torture scene ala the torture scene in METAL GEAR SOLID would have been wonderfully fun. Some more details from a rival website:

At the end of the day I'll be happy if it is a fun action game with Bond flavour thrown in. It'd just be nice to interact rather than watch, defeating much of the purpose of video games.

I would've put one of the other developers (like Eurocom, the guys doing the PC port) at the lead development. It might be good, but I always pay attention to a developer's track record, and when you got a company who's not known for cranking B-rank (and up) hits, I tend to be a little leery.
Plus Activision's got their 3-company split doing this (Treyarch handling 360/PS3, Vicarious Visions doing the Wii/PS2 port, and Beenox for PC), which is pretty common for a lot of their multiplatform releases, so it might vary in quality depending on what system you get it on. Which is even worse.

I'm only having doubts not because of missing scenes, lack of driving missions or even excessive quick-time events. It's the developer: Treyarch. These guys have been real hit-or-miss in terms of their games. Less hits (I heard people say a couple of the Spider-Man games were good) and more misses (Minority Report, one of the first PS2 games I bought, ugh; and people saying Call of Duty 3 was the worst in the series) than anything.

Eurocom has a ton of crappy games under their belt. I wouldn't put them in charge.
Treyarch is hit or miss a lot of times, but Call of Duty 3 isn't one of the misses. Call of Duty 3 gets crap from gamers for not moving the series along like Call of Duty 4 did (kind of a been there done that feeling) and it's yet another World War II game, which a lot of jaded gamers will criticize it for. But for what it is Call of Duty 3 is a good game. It's definitely not the worst of the series. That's probably Finest Hour.
Activision doesn't really own many other better developers. Bizarre Creations, but they're mostly good just for racing games and Raven Software being the only two I can think of. Grey Matter was great, but they merged with Treyarch.

No poker are u freaking kidding me! this sucks I'm coming out and saying it now This sucks . I got into Poker because of CR. and now they won't have it in the game. I hope that that is a rumour and not true.

lol.. why would you buy an action game like Bond and then in the middle of it all want to sit down and play a poker tournament that you obviously are going to win or have to win? If that happened we'd see tons of complaints. I mean talk about "taking you out of the game." And where's the fun in that? Why not just buy this game and one of those Poker Tournament games on the side? Activision should consider making a Bond themed poker or baccarat game for XBLA with online functionality to play against people. I'd pay 5 bucks for that.

Yeah I agree, going from action/shooting to slow moving poker and back to shooting again would be a bit awkward. People who buy the game for the poker wouldn't like the action stuff, and vice versa. If it were to be included, maybe they could do it as an optional side mission - coincidentally, Activision's GUN had a poker mini-game that didn't affect the main storyline, so I wouldn't mind if they threw something in like that. Still, no great loss.

I disagree. It would be weird to run about and shoot up the whole casino and completely ignore the pivotal scene of the story. It could work as a cutscene too, but it was such a huge portion of the film it would make more sense for it to be interactive.
I love your second idea, though. It would be a great way to utilise the Bond licence, and I'm sure it would make them plenty of money and be good value to the consumer if they marketed it at a low price like you suggested.

now as for it's own game Would calling it Casion Royale be too confusing I mean the chance to play as 007 any game in a casion u can save in ur room at the hotel.. and i'm thinking possilby adding some action/stealth elemnts but it wouldn't be a level based game but free roaming.
Of course i'm just blurting out thoughts but it might work.

So for which console are you guys going to buy this game anyway?
Me = Wii
Well it's too early to tell. For me it will either be PC or Wii or both. The two platforms are different enough that they game may provide a unique experience on the two platforms. But I'll have to wait and see.

PlayStation 3 for me. I am however interested to see how they implement the motion sensing abilities with the Wii version.

I don't own a PS3 at the moment, but even if I did I'd get it for the 360 over that because of Xbox Live and the fact that I've never liked the PlayStation controller (while I love the Xbox-S or the similar new 360 one).
On the other hand, I'm a huge PC game enthusiast. Quite possibly I'll get it for the 360 and then get it later over Steam, or maybe Steam first and 360 later. I don't know. Depends on how things shape up. Too early to say.

Wii, baby. Coolest system around, if you ask me.
The Wii versions of multi-platform games are always a bit of a gamble, IMHO. They never look as good as the 360/PS3 versions, and the controls are hit and miss, sometimes the controls are natural and intuitive, and sometimes they're just plain awkward.

This is true. But that's generally because the multi-platform games aren't made *for* the Wii. The games that have really been developed with the Wii in mind can be pretty fantastic, and more satisfying than their counterparts. The Wii versions of multi-platform games are always a bit of a gamble, IMHO. We'll see how QUANTUM OF SOLACE measures up. But if the controls are right, it'll be a lot more fun to play on the Wii than it will be on the 360/PS3. But if I had to choose another system besides Wii, I'd go with the 360. The PS3 isn't worth it (I think Sony needs to re-examine their entire strategy as far as their gaming consoles are concerned).
