I'll only believe this, when I see a EON / Sony Press Release.

According to Amy's rep she is working with Ronson on songs for her new album-not the Bond film:

[quote]Amy Winehouse has been hitting the studio to work on some new songs

Well thank god that her rep has stated that Amy is NOT doing the Bond theme.. but then again, things could change again and I'm sure will have more reports to the contrary.. god I'm getting all muddled up!! LOL...

By the way, just from my own person opinion, Amy Winehouse is NOT all that attractive looking...in fact she looks downright scary!! and as for her voice, I heard a bit of Back to Black.. meh!! she's okay but nothing special..

That's what I'm assuming. Isn't it standard operating procedure to assemble a collection of demo songs and weed them out from there? I know there's been occasions where a specific artist was approached and nobody else, but I always got the sense they asked around and chose the one they felt had the most potential.

That said, this could be alright. She's got some personal issues, sure, but Winehouse's style is pretty befitting of a Bond theme. Amy Winehouse doing one sounds a lot better initially than Chris Cornell doing one, and look how awesome his song was. Fingers crossed, here.

...although I'm still silently pulling for The Killers.

It usually is, but I think EON's been pulling for Amy for awhile now. They just want her to clean up her life first, IMHO.

"Amy has been in the studio working on songs for her new album with Mark Ronson. Recording for anything else is pure speculation," says her rep

I've seen stronger denials for things that actually happened later.

I agree very strongly with The Dove on both of those points.

She's okay at best, certainly nothing special, and extremely overhyped...

Ah. Guess this makes sense. Didn't think we'd be hearing confirmation on a singer until quite a few weeks from now.

Still, I really wouldn't mind if it was her...

I still can't think of a singer on earth better suited vocally--and less suited visually--to represent the new spirit of Bond.

I wonder whether Leona Lewis is in with a shot. Like Winehouse, she's a British "artist" who's popular in the States, only more so, and she's scandal-free (or at least I haven't heard of any scandal surrounding her) and looks like she could be a Bond girl (so there's cameo potential). And I believe she's even signed to Sony.

She isn't the sort of thing I'd listen to, personally (unless, of course, she did a Bond song, which I would listen to - obviously), but it strikes me that she might be quite a smart choice. I'm sure she's more than capable of belting out a pretty decent Bond song.

Agreed, she can really sing, and also is not just famous in the UK and US, but is now a worldwide sensation, especially her hit "Bleeding Love". She could certainly do it. I just think that Winehouse is more suited to this grittier, darker Bond we have these days.

Good point, and very true. Winehouse would be a more natural successor to Cornell, that's for sure. I guess Lewis would be almost a dead cert if the Brosnan era were still underway.

I could see Leona Lewis being considered. Had you brought her name up several weeks ago before "Bleeding Love" was the massive success here that it currently is, I wouldn't have been so sure.

Do I want her though? Eh... not so sure... She has vocal power, but that distinct Winehouse/Ronson sound is just so much more interesting and enjoyable, in my opinion.

So The Sun was playing hard and fast with the facts... what a surprise. And to think I believed them. Shame on me!

It's a great pity if Winehouse isn't doing it - I hope she's at least being considered. (NB: The way I read the statement I don't see anything saying that she's not interested or might not be able to send in a demo).

Winehouse would just give us a regurgitated mix of Goldeneye meets Tomorrow Never Dies crooning.

That's exactly it. Obviously Leona can sing, but she's been 'Cowelled' (yes, I invented a new verb), and it's a very Brosnan sound. I don't think it goes very well with CraigBond.

There has had to be some bit (however small) of consideration if she had her name checked by Michael G. Wilson a few weeks ago.

I think he was merely being diplomatic and polite with the interviewers question.

Yeah, MGW was being typical MGW in that he was neither committing to Winehouse nor ruling her our completely. He said something along the lines of "She could do an excellent job. We'll have to wait and see" ... he was basially answering the question in such a way that whoever reported it couldn't make something out of what went unsaid. At that point in time, Amy Winehouse had not been offered a contract by EON, but at the same time, she had not been ruled out completely. I gather MGW does this a lot (and he's very good at it): he tells us what he wants us to know, when he wants us to know it.

Could be, but I still would have expected something more along the lines of "Well, we haven't decided/don't decide on these types of matters 'til later on..."

Who knows...

Guess we'll just have to wait for that official announcement.

I'd never want her attatched to any Bond film, Worser than madonna IMO.

Found this one as well. If she has been arrested, I say move on. There are plenty of talented artists out there that come with considerably less baggage.
