The way that I interpreted this quote was that Amalric would be the main villain, with Taubman the second big villain.Second big villain, eh? I wonder if that includes Mr. White as the other?

Dare I speculate that HE will be playing Vesper's French-Algerian boyfriend?
I wouldn't bet against it.Having read that interview and a few other details from it, I am becoming increasingly convinced that he will be the boyfriend.
And very Gardneresque!I do like the idea of Bond being chased around for once. Henchmen moving from country to country trying to eliminate him. That would be quite cool.

I tend to agree, really. My hunch is that White is as good as retired after the ending of Casino Royale. The way that I interpreted this quote was that Amalric would be the main villain, with Taubman the second big villain.Second big villain, eh? I wonder if that includes Mr. White as the other?
Has it been 'confirmed' (at least as much as anything can be at this point) that Almaric is a 'main villain'?

Well, Max Von Sydow said so, for whatever that's worth.

I have a feeling he'll be permanently retired at the beginning of Bond 22.My hunch is that White is as good as retired after the ending of Casino Royale.

All in all, I'm glad to finally see some facts surfacing on the upcoming film.
As am I; it's great to be part of the fandom at a time like this.

Hmmmm... perhaps he's playing the useless henchman Tarantino...
...which I predicted! Ha-ha! It's coming true!
Too obvious. I say call him ‘Mr. Brown’.
...and have endless Reservoir Dogs jokes be made? Forget it!
Maybe Bond will cut his ear off.
...while dancing to Stealer's Wheel, natch.

Wow, some very interesting pics there, Fro. Dare I speculate that HE will be playing Vesper's French-Algerian boyfriend? He looks sort of ethnically ambiguous, with more of an 'Algerian' look than Mathieu Almaric, anyway.
That's pretty much what I was thinking...

Antaole Taubman. The blundering Elvis.
Antaole Taubman. The Quentin Tarantino effigy.
EON strikes back!!!
I am starting to convince myself...

There was discussion re: the apple that Greene was eating. So random it is, it has to be deliberate. And there was a scene cut where the focus is Elvis receiving the chewed apple with a classic expression. So it almost seems as if the point of the apple is that it be given to Elvis.
I know that's already a little weak, but humor me...
What if the eaten-apple symbolizes something regarding Tarantino? Could it be a message of some sort? (Don't worry, I'm not totally deranged. Rest assured I'm laughing at myself now too.)
Theories?
C'mon. It's not like you have anything better to do.

Another theory: In the Trojan War mythos, Paris gave Aphrodite a golden apple, enscribed To the Most Beautiful; since the apple is green, green signifying in most circles a sign of inexperience, perhaps EON is giving Tarantino a mock award "to the most inexperienced"?

Oh, alright, I'm game.
We all know Tarantino is essentially a scavenger of sorts when it comes to his "original" work; he notoriously ripped off City On Fire/Pelham 1-2-3/etc for Reservoir Dogs, his True Romance script is heavily influenced by Badlands, he made masturbatory full-length film homages in Kill Bill and Grindhouse, etc. etc.
Now, how does this relate to QOS, you ask. You don't ask? Well I'm telling you anyway. Greene is the man eating the apple; when he's done with it, he hands the half-eaten, undesirable remains to Elvis. This symbolizes Tarantino's position in cinema. He is not the first to do anything; as a filmmaker he is not getting the first "bite at the apple", which I believe is a legitimate saying/phrase. EON are exposing him for what he is, a sort of second-hand auteur who can do nothing without being handed ideas by other, more worldly, experienced filmmakers. But Tarantino's work in general, like an apple core, has no substance to it; the tasty, ripe, enjoyable portion of the fruit has already been consumed by someone who got there before him.
Alternately, its all a Garden of Eden metaphor, and Elvis is the snake. Or something.
