Sorry, didn't mean to add confusion by jumping in with a comment--it's trs007's quiz, and only he knows if you're right.

Oh; my mistake, then. B)

Oh! You're referring to the piranha pool from YOLT, which produces bubbles whenever they attack, and where Helga Brandt ("the babe") crashed into and was eaten alive ("did not stay that way")! Am I right? B)

Okay, but if it is the piranhas, since the first clue was first-person singular, I think you have to say which piranha. (My money's on Frank, the fourth one from the left with the pretty blue eyes.)

So, am I right or not?

To the above "mini thread"---it is NOT anything to do with YOLT.

I'm glad it wasn't the piranhas. If we were going to start using non-human answers, my next one was going to be a Persian cat--and the one after that was going to be Virus Omega.

What about Wai Lin? She crashed Carver's party posing as just another babe, but wasn't. And she was very "bubbly" as she almost drowned at the end, but still helped Bond stop Carver's plot.

(If this is correct, an assist goes to Mr. Blofeld for interpreting "did not stay that way" as referring to not staying a babe--I was locked into thinking it meant "did not stay crashed.")

Is it Angelo from Thunderball? Although he stole the Vulcan, he ended up getting his air supply cut and drowning in his own bubbles.

It's been eight days since the added clue, trs, and I don't get the sense that we're approaching the solution with any great speed--or any speed period. Are you ready to nudge us again, or shall we dangle a little longer?

Another clue, then, please? B)

WOW--it has been 20 days!!! Fair enough, Mr B. A clue it is. This clue is an addition to the current clue. Put them together and I bet we have us a WINNER:

Prior clue: "Although I was bubbly, I got the job done."

Additional clue: "The babe who crashed did not stay that way."

I agree, Major, it was on my to-do list for today. Well, maybe not another clue, maybe just rewording the additional clue.

"The babe who crashed did not stay that way."

OR

The baby is asleep. But did not stay that way.

Come and take the victory, fellas.

Ah-HA!!

It's Pussy Galore. She was the Champagne Leader who put the "baby" (Fort Knox) to sleep.

Very sly, trs. You have not lowered your standards, that's for sure.

Over to you Major. You were the only one that associated bubbly with the Nick Nack guess. Everyone else was going with bubbles.

Guess it's time to jump-start this. Original clue was pretty obscure.

"Thanks to Murphy's Law, I had Bond under my thumb."

OK, time to get back in the fray----long shot, but---Red Grant? As he was strangling "bond", he did have him under his thumb.

It's been pretty quiet here without you, as you may have noticed.

I never left. (Couldn't resist chance to throw that into the mix).

Been lurking, not much posting, and yes, these ID games have been quiet; but will change that if I can get my head back into these clues.

Mayhap it's time for a hint:

The reference to "Law" is a red herring, but not the reference to "Murphy."

Was it Goldfinger? When he had Bond tied to the gold table.

No, sorry. I think I was trying to be too indirect. Let's try this:

It wasn't Bond himself that I had under my thumb when I invoked a kind of Murphy's Law--it was a very special button.

Necros in TLD? After Kara opens the back hatch (Murphy's Law), Necros goes from having Bond under his thumb to being physically cut from Bond's own boot and sent flying out of the plane...

Wow, I think I killed this thread by making my clue way too indirect. "I had Bond under my thumb" referred to the girl at the beginning of YOLT who catapults Bond into the wall on a Murphy bed (hence all the Murphy's Law stuff) by pushing a button with her thumb.

Now that I look back on it, it was incredibly opaque.

Anyone want to try this one (I think it's a good bit easier):

I had a nautical sort of name, but was not a woman you'd want to sail away with.

Irma Bunt

Leastwise, the only one I can figure for that clue!

Named after the baggy part of a sail, and I don't know how you fellows get your kicks, but I can tell you I wouldn't sail away with her! B)

No, Klebb was in From Russia With Love. I see Bunt as a sort of poor man's Klebb, actually... but all the same, the exchange about the baggy part of a sail takes place in OHMSS when Bond meets her undercover as Sir Hilary Bray. I'm all but positive she is the character alluded to in the clue given above.

Yes, that's my final answer.
