As I've stated elsewhere, I also like both series. But I kinda wish Damon would stop shooting his mouth off like that, it makes him sound like such a poor sport, especially when he admitted that he hasn't even seen Casino Royale.

Anyhoo, these rather silly putdowns, when compared to Daniel Craig's comments about the Bourne series from earlier this week, are a great example of at least one trait Bourne will never have : Class.

There is two others Damon and Greengrass will never have: modesty and intelligence.

I don't care what Messrs Damon and Greengrass have to say about Bond.... or about anything. All I care about is whether I find THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM a decent film. By the same token, I couldn't care less about Daniel Craig's or Barbara Broccoli's views on x, y or z.

There is a poll on the bbc news web site today ...which film series do you prefer, Bourne or Bond?...at time of writing, Bond is ahead 70% to Bourne 30 %.
Any chance of a link? I cant seem to find the Page in question.Bourne is a one trilogy / one hit wonder).
Really??? I thought that there was two more novels, The Legacy and The Betrayal, yet to be filmed?

Weary I am growing of the whole Bond vs. Bourne, Damon vs. Craig, Greengrass vs. EON debates of the past few weeks.
Although I am a member of it, when do we take aim at the true people perpetuating this -- the media? How do we know the reporters aren't asking these directly because it makes better copy? Controversy sells, that's why all we hear about these days are celebrity screw-ups. Sure there's a natural connection between two invincible superspies, but can't one complement the other?

So can anyone confirm that Mr.Damon is an actual human being, or is he one of those dolls who spurts out a programmed phrase when you pull his string? I think this is at least the third time he's said this exact same comment, word for word!

Great post. The problem is that the cinematic James Bond is not a misygonist - despite what Damon or M in GOLDENEYE may have claimed. He's a sexist, but just barely. Bond was at his most sexist back in the 60s and early 70s. Bond is simply a man who uses casual sex to make up for his unwillingness to form an emotional attachment. And that comes from the emotional disappointments and pain he has endured most of his life . . . along with his chosen profession.

If we look at Bond by his own standards, he's neither a misogynist or a sexist. The suggestion that he's unfulfilled would simply leave him speechless. He loves the company of women--for the duration of each film. Beyond that, the Bond we love has learned that the pleasures of women in short-lived affairs far outweigh the hassles of loving them for long. The day to day of lasting love bleeds the last drops of romance. In Bond's eyes, of course. Not mine. I adore bickering over the dishes and garbage!
