Bryce, which would you recommend I try first? I've enjoyed Glenlivet; but that's it for me so far. Please bear in mind that this is an area where I regrettably lag behind you in knowledge, so I'd very much like the benefit of your experience and knowledge.
Cheers,

My preferences leam towards the Highlands regions, there are Islays and other region Scotches but I likre the flavort of the Highlands... Brands I would try are Oban, Dalmore, Glen Morangie, but try to stay in the 12yr old and above, and add a splash of still water or 3 ice cubes as either will bring out more of the flavor and aroma. Of course, as always, this is just my opinion, now TAKE IT!

I started drinking the Highland whiskey, but last year developed a taste for the more smokey Islay brands. Currently I'm drinking McClelland's, which I bought on a whim due to the family name, but it is quite good!Bryce, which would you recommend I try first? Agreed Felix. Darkpath, if you go the Glen Morangie route at some point, I reccomend the Madeira Wood or Sherry Wood finishes. Cheers!

There are usually 1 or 2 bars in any location with a good selection of different types, flavor, casking, etc.. It is always a good idea to ask the bartender at your favorite watering hole as they usually know where they keep the good stuff.I did order a glass of the Glen Morangie whilst at a party on Saturday evening; but the barkeep neglected to mention anything about Madeira Wood or Sherry Wood finishes, and neglected to show me the bottle's label.
I haven't a clue which it was. It was pretty good and I see what was meant by ice would help bring out the flavour. I think I'd ideally like to try shots of various different single malts under the tutelage of someone more knowledgeable so I might be able to better pick up the nuances and discern the differences. The only challenge there being that it seems that Scotch is normally served at room temperature, and I find it more to my palate's pleasure when chilled (am I a philistine for saying so?). Any suggestions?
But... If you can wait until DTBB, I am sure the staff will be bringing 2-4 different bottles to tickle our, and your, palate's.
The room temp rule is a good one, so as the ice does not freeze certian receptors on the tongue, still using branch water to bring out the flavor/scent/etc.. But, you can always ask for it "Bond" style, and have the barkeep shake it with 3 or 4 cubes, but still have it poured into a double shot glass or larger so you get all the residule from the shaker, and it doesn't warm too soon.
Remember, the barkeep will do just about anything you ask, just think of him/her as the Madam in a brothel, their job is to make you happy and collect for services rendered!

Just returned from Chicago late last evening. Miss West and I dined at the Saloon Steakhouse. Their selection of single malts made a grown man cry. It was beautiful.
Not nearly as beautiful as Miss West.
Tales to tell.
No......

I do consider keeping certain topics on top my personal duty... I am a creature of duty after all.Gee.... I feel like we should start a Scotch thread, so as not to detract from DTBB, but it keeps us on the top of the postings...

Looks to be a man-eating vampire!
She does appreciate a certain "flavor" to her company and the company she keeps.
Bryce: "Mal...Where are your clothes?"
Malice: "Go make me a Cosmo."

I was trained to eliminate problems and leave the "point of contact" quickly. Anything less obvious than bodies (or partial bodies) lying about on the floor is clean enough.
If only every busy hotel had so many large, conveniently located planters, this would be a better world. At least for spies.

We're dancing as fast as we can. I'm sorry that we're playing this as close as we are - not my bloody plan - but it is as it must be.
"The things I do for England."
Agent Leiter has been of INVALUABLE assistance in these last moments.
Thanks Felix. Damn good to have an allied intelligence agency backing me up.
I've said it before, but I'll say it again -
"It's tough work being a secret agent."
Somebody remind me to laugh about all this on the afternoon of August 9th while I'm lounging poolside with Miss West in one hand and a scotch in the other.
UGH!
