I don't want them to start making the same movie again and again.
I'd rather they'd do that than make Bond 22 another DAF, MR, AVTAK or DAD

The humor quote is isolated--nothing before or it after--but to put it in its context, I'll give the preceding and following remarks.
Q: You managed to make it(the role) your own.
A: We will see.
Q: You've already done it--we don't have to see. And the only contentious issue when you were offered the part was the fact that you're blond.
A: They just want more gags. The next one's going to be a lot funnier.
Q: Octopussy kind of gags?
A: Yeah. Octopussy. Pussy Galore. They're all great names. But that's the thing; all the Bond jokes have been flipped on their heads. They've all gone beyond...Should we order a bit more wine, so I can think straight? (Food is delivered to the table.)
Well, there you have it. Certainly not grounds for panic, just enough to make them wonder: what exactly does 'a lot funnier mean'? And, aside from more cute names, in what direction will the humor go? With Haggis on board, I'm not worried yet. But orders do come from down from on high...
'And I for o-one can't w-wait to see what h-happens next!'

Fair enough question and answer.

We're asking Craig about his take on the character, and about all thehe took for being blond, and he responds with "They want more gags"? Thanks for the info, but what does that have to do with the question? Nonetheless, our interviewer follows Craig's lead...

Mr. Craig, I think she meant "gags like you'd find in the film Octopussy". Not, "a gag in the way that the name Octopussy is a gag". So anyway. "They've all gone beyond", you say? So... where are they now? Help out a fan here. What's to be expected?

I think you've had enough.

Dodge, this interview doesn't make any sense to me!

Ah, the lengths I go to, to share information...in order to be diddled.
Dear Judo, if I'd been conducting the interview--and I wouldn't have been drinking--I'd have asked some followup questions. E.g.: Could you be more specific about that?
As it is, we're offered a transcript of a talk between two guys talking. They don't sound drunk to me, but like you I'm left wanting more clarification.
Seems to me, we still have some grounds for discussion: "The next film will be a lot funnier" seems pretty clear to me.

You're quite right there. He does plainly state that there will be more humor (even if that wasn't the question.
Overall, I feel it's a positive message.

With this lot, I get the feeling I shouldn't believe anything until I see it on the screen.

If anything can be taken serious from this you may be able to jump to the conclusion that the Bond girl's name will be something along the lines of Miss Perkitits or something.
LOL, I hope she is and I hope she has!
Yes, it does make sense that the next one will be funnier. I wouldn't want all of Craig's to be as dark as CR, but I don't want the next 2 to be DAF or Moonraker either!

Ugh "Saved by the Bell" always made me cringe, its probably the lamest line I've ever heard.
Agreed. Hopefully lines like that won't make an appearance in Bond 22. They worked well for the type of Bond film that DAD was, but I just can't see Daniel Craig delivering a line like that.

LOL, I think it's harmless fun. Anyone who doesn't at least smile needs to lighten up!
And why should James Bond be the only Brit to not use double entendre and silly jokes. The British are the Kings of saucy and silly gags!!
Plus, I think it's an age thing, you have to be over 30 to appreciate those saucy seaside postcard style jokes like Bond asking Q if he is having trouble keeping it up. Ah, the fun...

No, it's just not funny. Roger's one-liners I often did find amusing, with Pierce they were too laboured. You could almost hear the scriptwriters saying to themselves "Hmmm, can we shoehorn in another humour-free pun?".Ugh "Saved by the Bell" always made me cringe, its probably the lamest line I've ever heard

I didn't mind "Saved by the bell". At that point I was still in my "oH mY gOd I'M wAtChiNg a BrAnD nEw BoNd FiLM!" zone (which would be punctured eventually by the introductions of Jinx and CGI).

I didnt have any problem with the saved by the bell line, but I agree some of the puns were groaners.
Thanks. I saw DAD twice in the cinema and the entire audience laughed and groaned at the same time, both times!!!
It is funny to many people. I can't stand people who come here and state something as being fact, when it's actually all about opinions.

I have enjoyed all the humour of the Bond movies, including the odd cheesy line.

Agreed funny line and clever even though a bit cheesy.

More humor, yes. But everything in balance.
While I can't say that I'm all that interested to see more humor in Bond 22, if they do add it, I agree that it has to be balanced. Hopefully they don't go the DAF direction and have Bond joke around with whoever he ultimately deems responsible for what happened to him and Vesper in CR. I didn't think that kind of humor worked in DAF, and I still don't think that it would work for Bond 22 either.
