The most Barry-esque of these tracks. Should have got Massive for Casino Royale.
1985 Killing Joke - Love Like Blood
Years ahead of its time and maybe too tough for Bond even now. Same goes for this one:
1980 Siouxsie and the Banshees - Israel

Yes, I can really picture this as the hard-rocking, hard-hitting followup to "You Know My Name", every bit as "experimental" as "Another Way to Die" but much, much better.

Oh Looloo, I'm starting to have doubts about you.Call me insane, but I do think that the new Guns N' Roses single, "Chinese Democracy", would have been a terrific QUANTUM OF SOLACE theme song (with different lyrics, obviously, although that said the lyrics seem to circle the subject of regime change, which I understand is one of the themes of QoS):

- Another Way To Die Instrumental version - Jack White & Alici
(Take the part where White and Keys usually say "A door left open, A woman walking by !" It's awesome !)
- A Woman Like Me - Beyoncé
(So Bondish !)
- Back To Black - Amy Winehouse
(I love her voice, even if the ruthm stays pretty much the same !)
- Surrender - K.D. Lang
(It's a perfect song for a Brosnan movie.)

Stranded in this spooky town,
Stoplights are swaying, and the phone lines are down.
This part is pretty simple: it sets the scene, namely that the singer is alone.
The snow is crackling cold;
She took my heart, I think she took my soul.
And this sets up the fact that someone has fallen for him.
With the moon I run,
Far from the carnage of the firey sun.
This part I interpret as him seeing what he has wrought, particularly given some of M's comments about Bond in QUANTUM OF SOLACE.
Driven by the strangle of veins;
Showing no mercy, I'd do it again.
This part relates to the vampirism, but in the context of Bond, I can see it as him being driven by what he needs to survive, and that he would not hesitate to do it again.
Open up your eyes;
You keep on crying, baby I'll bleed you dry
This part is an appeal to the person who has fallen in love with him: keep it up, and I'll end up destorying you. No because I want to, but because it's a part of who I am.
The skies, they blink at me,
I see a storm bubbling up from the sea.
Trouble on the horizon.
And it's coming closer ...
And it's coming closer ...
The day when it all falls apart is coming.
Your shimmy broke my bones,
Leaving me stranded all in love on my own
He doesn't really know how to deal with someone falling in love with him.
Do you think of me?
Where am I now; baby, where do I sleep?
He's wondering how much of his true nature this girl actually knows.
Feels so good but I'm old;
Two thousand years of chasing taking it toll.
My interpretation of Bond has been that he never quite got over Vesper Lynd, and that he's going to spend the rest of his life chasing down that next great evil.
And it's coming closer ...
And it's coming closer ...
And it's coming closer ...
And it's coming closer!
Again, the day when everything falls apart is coming closer.

Eh, not really, although there is one song off the album that made me think of Bond.
"This I Love" off Chinese Democracy has an amazing orchestral arrangement that that Marco Beltrami did with Axl Rose. Sounds like a cross between Barry and Arnold to me.
Love how the full orchestra kicks in at about 3:18... definitely has the Barry magic at that point.

A lot of people have compared "If the World" to a Bond song too, but I don't hear it.

Wasn't a Duffy fan before this, but I like this song a lot.
I suppose it's bad that most of my experience with any new music comes only from rumored Bond-theme contenders.

1) Surrender - K.D. Lang (My personal favorite, owing to the power of her voice.)
2) The Storm - Grace Jones (A.K.A. May Day)
3) Woman Like Me - Beyoncé (From "The Pink Panther" Soundtrack)
4) Feeling Good - Michael Bublé (A little too jazzy...)
5) Save The Day - Perfect Sin (If anybody could find a download link to this song, I would be most grateful, as I've seen it on YouTube but can't listen to it anywhere.)

Is It a Crime? -- Sade
Bladerunner -- Kim Wilde (not part of soundtrack or film, but music fits)
Just a Job to Do -- Genesis ("I've got a name, I've got a number, I've got a ... ")
If You Asked Me To -- Celine Dion version
The late Dusty Springfield (Look of Love fame) had a song from the movie The Stuntman that I used to listen to with Moonraker and Nobody Does It Better. Can't remember the title right now.
And this may or may not count since it's for a Bond video game, but Mya's Everything or Nothing is worth mentioning as it's better than some of the movie songs.

Duran Duran: Ordinary World
That would have made a great Bond title song. It's one that I'll always associate with Daniel Craig, to a certain degree, because it was the main song in the Layer Cake trailer, which was the first time I saw Craig on screen after his being heavily rumored to take over as Bond.
Other great non-Bond songs:
"Myserious Ways" - U2
"Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" - U2
"So Cruel" - U2
"Umbrella" - Rihanna
"Disturbia" - Rihanna
"When Love and Hate Collide" - Def Leppard feat. Taylor Swift (CMT's Crossroads)
"Broken Dreams" - Kady Malloy (would have made a pretty good title track for QoS, and definitely an improvement over AWTD)

Genesis- Shipwrecked
This Genesis track from their underrated Ray Wilson-fronted Calling All Stations album, musically features some of the charcteristics people associate with Bond themes; melodrama, slight melancholia and an orchesteral lilt which boarders on the overblown. Lyrically, it isn't Bondish at all unless you want to get reaaaaaaallllly fanboyish.
(Actually I'd love Tony Banks to score a Bond film. He is classically trained and released an orchesteral album in 2004 in addition to having scored a few, forgettable, films. Wont ever happen though)
Suede- Stay Together
Androgynous Mads Mikkelsen lookalike (only sexier, not that a straight guy like me ever noticed

As could Midge Ure and co:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW3qIKYcaxY
(The studio version is better, but I wont post that because the video is very dodgy)
Bernard Butler of Suede went on to make up half of McAlmont and Butler, who musically feel Barry-esque, but are perhaps a bit too cheery to really feel Bondian.
For those of you who suggested Save A Prayer, I've always prefered this version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjsN-ELz5NA
I'm sure some will find the arrangement too adult contemporary (though the original is hardly cutting edge!), but there's no denying Hadley is a vastly, vastly superior vocalist to Simon Le Bon. Shame they couldn't have swapped Bands.
