Fantastic choice, markt. Quite possibly favourite song of all time.
Also gave alot of the others listed here a listen on YouTube--some fantastic "could-be" Bond songs.
Checking out To The End by Blur at the moment.

Yeah, I agree. The last album of his I like as a whole is Chronologie. That's almost the only good track on the album, sadly (imo). I used to really like Jarre's early work, but he's kind of disolved into a sub-pop mess recently...

What are some spy-sounding songs or pieces of music/ soundtracks out there that aren't James Bond songs? Eg songs which either have that cold war feel to them or... well you know what they sound like - Bond songs usually have a kind of certain sound to them. I'm just wondering what other songs are out there that are non-Bond songs.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
For soundtracks, Film Score Monthly has 4 volumes of music from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. television series.

For soundtracks, Film Score Monthly has 4 volumes of music from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. television series.
As well as a volume from I SPY.
You may also want to check out Jerry Goldsmith's Our Man Flint/In Like Flint disc.
George S. Clinton's Austin Powers *score* albums sound a lot like Barry, so you may also enjoy those. I don't mean the songtrack albums, but the symphonic score music.
Spy Bop Royale has a nice listing of "Spy Jazz", too.
Score Baby is another useful site for things of the 1960s-70s, including Spy music.

Goldfrapp is fine but it's a bit mellow in that regard.

Don't know how I stumbled across it on YouTube, but the first few seconds had me hooked. It's particularly the beginning that somehow sounds a bit like Bond to me.

Wish I Could Fly - Roxette

wow that is a great choice!! The first 20 seconds are very much like Goldeneye in tone... for me that's a very good thing!
Seal has a few good ones.. here's "Waiting for You"
waiting for you
also Seal's "Wedding Day"
you can listen to the full song here by pressing play beside the track title:
wedding day
however, not all of the song works... really it sounds like a Bond song about 50 secs in...

Would really suit a scene of Dalton / Craig Bond brooding in a hotel room and wondering it all went wrong.

Everytime Bond is in the desert, my mind always overlaps Led Zeppelin's Kashmir.
For this overaged Yank, those are the two best things that ever came from the U.K.
Pagey was wrong to give it to a reptile.

Michael Buble's "Feeling Good" should easily have been the Casino Royale theme song. Although I loved what Chris Cornell did, the lyrics for Buble's song are just too perfect, mentioning new life, new day, all that stuff. Plus, someone on youtube was able to sync it with the main titles, looks like even Mr. Kleinman used the song to match the music up. Forget all this talk of Winehouse, Quantum of Solace should be performed by Michael Buble!
Well, that's understandable, "Feeling Good" was written by Leslie Bricusse , who wrote "You only live twice" and it's not a Michael Buble song, he is just one of many to have sung it. It could not have been the Casino Royale theme, because it's an old song.
