missing shot of drinks being carried over the gambling table

- Mr White retrieving briefcase from water

- Vesper's underwater kiss with Bond and death seem shorter.

None of those were in any theatrical cut, I believe

That seems so weird to me, as I remember all 3.

And since then, I have read them mentioned by 2 other users. I am certain about the drinks shot. It was even lauded as artistically brilliant by DLibraSnow or Bryce or one veteran.

For Harmsway - Athena agrees with me on the drinks tray:-

POISONED MARTINI -- There is a close up shot of the martini glasses on the tray as it sits on the bar (end of dvd scene 18) as it's being poisoned. This is a fantastic shot but...
Theatrical: There was indeed a shot of the tray as it traveled across the room from the bar to the card table. I remember it quite clearly.
US DVD: It's not there!

It doesn't convince me. I remember it as it was featured on the DVD. We must remember that the imagination can really do wonders, and often replaces memory, and such a shot as you describe is really easy to imagine, and rather vividly. For years, many Star Wars fans have asserted they saw some of the famous deleted scenes inserted in the film during its original release. But it simply isn't true - they were never there, and fans are merely projecting something onto their experience.

At any rate, I'm 100% certain there was no shot of Mr. White in the theatrical cut. I remember because I mused on the first viewing that many people would probably wonder how he rescused the briefcase from the sinking house, and in confirmation, many people in the days right after CASINO ROYALE's release asked just that.

Yeah, that is true. But so far the agrees outnumber the disagrees.

I know what you mean, though. Maybe it's just my imagination, as I really like that kind of shot in film.

In the hope that I haven't gone mad, I cling onto the hope that maybe it was cut from the US version you saw along with the stairwell scene.

Only somewhat. On the drink shot, you have Athena, so far. That's one.

On the Mr. White shot, you have no-one, beyond Zen saying he might have seen such a thing. Athena seems to rebuke it, even as she defends your martini glasses shot.

Though I saw it on digital all three times - it's possible that, as Zencat says, there was a slightly different digital print and film print.

But I highly doubt that would have included the stairwell fight, because I saw it both on digital and on film, and in different theatres across the country, and all featured an edited stairwell fight. And since such an edit would have been made for the PG-13 rating (and Campbell talked about having to make such edits for the PG-13), it doesn't make sense that there would have been an unedited stairwell cut released in America.

Sorry, I didn't mean people on this website. I meant those I watched it with, and those I spoke to who agreed with me. But there were some who didn't remember it at all, just like you.

So I still don't know if we all saw it, or if we all imagined it. My wife remembers it clearly. But my film-maker friend Steve has no idea what I am talking about!! LOL...:cooltongue:

I have another one, I though the shots of bond vomiting in the toilets were color desaturated ie near black and white in the cinema, here, they are in vivid colors (R3 DVD)

Interesting.

The way it is on the Region 1 DVD was the way I saw it here in the US. It was very weird with its brightness and glowyness, but it wasn't desaturated, per se. There was still color.

There seem to be quite a few differences, by region.

Oh, that much is for certain, and that's not that unusual.

I mean, there are some fairly significant differences between the UK and USA versions alone. Different countries usually receive different edits, due to the ratings considerations and certain tweaks.

Quite. Here in the USA vomit shown in color is considered a major disruption to our family values. All vomit images must be desaturated for a PG-13 rating, or black and white for a PG rating.

Judo Chop, are you serious about the vomit thing? Because if you are, that's really strange. And I honestly can't think of any non-R movie with vomiting in it off the top of my head, except Apollo 13, and that was in glorious zero-G color.

And as far as changes, all the changes I've noticed have been exclusively limited to clips I've seen. For instance, I have noticed the stairwell fight differences noted on here, as prior to release I had watched IGN's clip of the scene, which is unedited. I'm also pretty sure the bazillion clips of the Parkour chase on Youtube all had a slightly different musical cue when Mollaka jumps onto the elevator. But that's all I've noticed, as I'm here in the US. Oh, and I distinctly recall wondering how Mr. White got the briefcase out of the water, so I at least never saw a clip of him removing it.

I'm never serious about vomit, Ouroboros.

Seriously. :cooltongue:

(I was just being an idiot. It happens from time to time. Best to nevermind me when I do it.)

2 other things I noticed in the PTS were that we missed the scene where bond slams a door or something in fisher's face and also when they get out of the stall we missed when he kicks fisher in the face before he kicks the garbage can you'll notice the music is wierd.

But the point is why would they censor the DVD version and not the theatrical version it left me saying WTF?

I've asked this in another thread, but no-one has answered it there so I am going to ask it here too:

Can anyone help me out here: I've watched the DVD twice now, and in the scene with Dryden, Dryden says "Your file shows no kills, but it takes..." and then Bond says "Two."

I am sure that in the theatre version, or at least on the trailer, Dryden said "Your file shows no kills, but to become a Double-O it takes..." (Bond: "Two"). But those words are definitely not in the scene on my DVD of Casino Royale. Am I just imagining this, or can someone else tell me if they remember these words being said by Dryden too?

I'm referring to the Australian DVD (Region 4), by the way.

I believe it was "but it takes..." in the final cut. The "to become a double-O" was just from the trailer. Since in the scene he already mentions being promted to double-O having him say something simular again would have been a little redundant unlike the trailer where they had to fit it in somewhere.
