Wow having an opinion about CR is a real Sore Point around here
Not at all; but how you express it is.
Calm down and stop shouting. It won't render credible the validity of any of your points.

Now, when LTK came out and was playing at the same time as Batman, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Star Trek V, Lethal Weapon 2, The Abyss, Ghostbusters II... THAT was some legitimate competition.
I don't think it's unfair to say that Casino Royale is the most overrated Bond movie. I don't agree with that statement, but I don't think it's unfair given the heaps and heaps of praise laid on it and Daniel Craig.
ANY movie that highly regarded CAN legitimately be considered overrated by some fans - it IS all just opinion, after all.
(I rather liked CR myself, and while I think it's just a tad overrated - as most around here know - I do think it is VERY good, and will stand the test of time very well.)

Good film, and was actually my favorite for a while as it was the first one I saw, but I find the middle half of the film drags on a bit. I think what could have helped was a better score to move things along at a faster pace. Overall, good film, but not as good as some make it out to be.
Great performance from Sean Bean though. The antenna fight at the end is excellent.

It hasn't aged well, is horribly racist (even for Bond), introduced the J.W. Pepper character (I know TMWTGG brought him back, but that film is definitely not overrated and deserves its low stature), the villain's scheme is more banal than LTK's (and his makeup is awful as Mr. Big), has one of the worst pre-credits sequence, and is the first not to have John Barry score it after six films. I guess it's saved by Paul McCartney, Jayne Seymour, and that boat chase. And I like Roger Moore, but am amazed that he emerged from his first two Bond films to continue in the role. That being said, I'm ashamed to say I still kind of like it.
GOLDENEYE is definitely overrated, but I think people defend it because it introduced Bond to a new generation after 6 years (much like TSWLM did for kids in the 70s).
Also, I think Connery deserves more criticism for his sleepwalking through YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE and DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. He clearly doesn't care to be on either set.
And yes, CASINO ROYALE should have gotten more flak the way LTK and OHMSS did by the general public. But all three are in my top five Bond films.

Ha, I totally agree. LALD has so many cringe-worthy elements for me, but somehow, someway, I can't muster DAF/DAD level dislike for the movie. Jane Seymour's presence conjures up quite a bit of goodwill.
