Only to be spoiled (for me, at least) by the obvious in-studio shots of Bond and Kissy in the fishing boat.

Well, yeah, but I was taking the thread title literally and thinking of favorite "shots", as in individual moments. That was one of those scenes, so frequent in the early Bonds and so MIA lately, that made world travel seem so exotic and enticing to me as a kid. One of those shots that made me say, "Boy, I wish I was there."

But, as you say, followed by a shot that made me say, "...and I wish they were, too!"

Casino Royale: The camera moving up the ocean, tilting to the yaught, with the great 'City of Lovers' playing.

Agreed; that, and the iconic shot of Mr. White crawling feebly to the bottom of the stairs as our hero walks right by and ascends them as the first powerful notes of the Bond theme cresend...

CR is so full of them. Although the most definitive and coolest has to be the first time Connery ever said Bond...James Bond in DR. NO. That is the definition of a Bond scene/film/camera shot in my eyes; cool, stlyish, suave, and very much menacing.

Great shot.

I also love the first view of the Casino, earlier in that scene. There were some wonderful set designs in the 60's.

I also like the first shot of Tangiers in TLD. It's a really nice look at the city.

I'm really not a fan of You Only Live Twice but that is a very nice shot .

In Casino Royale, the moving shot as Craig runs after the car thats taken Vesper as it raises slightly as Bond moves closer to the camera. Something about it seems undeniably cool to me

Ah, but for me YOLT was a massive improvement over its dreary predecessor...

Really? For me, it's vice-versa...

Oh, Lordy, I find Thunderball a drag to endure these days. It only ever comes to life to me when Fiona is on-screen and simply simpers away and dies when she does. And it's nothing to with running time; OHMSS and Casino Royale, my two favoruite films in the series, don't drag for me, but Thunderball does.

I can't explain why I have such antipathy towards TB, but these things are purely subjective. Perhaps my loathing of Kevin McClory and the way he behaved in that sorry episode (from which no-one emerged with much credit, admittedly) clouds my judgement.

Of course, being a Bond, I don't hate Thunderball, but it's certainly me least favourite Eon Bond film.

Well, if they had cut the whole portion with Paula captured by Largo and most of the underwater fight sequence out of the film, do you think it would have gone by faster?

The whole pacing of the film is off, for me, I'm afraid. It's no secret that Terence Young's heart wasn't wholly in the film - and, to my mind, it shows.

Hmmm...favorite? Can't do it. Too many.

I agree. I think OHMSS, FRWL, and CR are the three best photographed Bond movies, and it's too hard to pick a favorite single shot.

True enough; wasn't OHMSS planned for '65 before McClory came to EON with his deal?

Following that, I love how the camera pans around the Aston Martin until it reaches the rear wheel and we see it spinning as Bond gets going. That shot really belongs at the beginning of a really great car chase and of course that didn't happen at that point.

In that brief scene with Bond in the DBS, I like the shots of Bond behind the wheel. The side angle and straight shots, piercing blue eyes through the darkness, one hand on the wheel and aggressive face.

Some more unmentioned...

In Thunderball after Bond is trapped in the pool there's a shot of Largo standing there with smoke coming out of his mouth that's really stylish.

In FRWL when Grant steps off the train and his sinister eyes look both ways. Also like the shot of him firing a gun during the Gypsy battle.

In YOLT, the wide shot of all the ninjas rappeling down in the Volcano was epic. The erupting Volcano in the background also, a fitting end to Connery's prime era.

The shot from above Bond bungee-jumping off the dam wall at the start of Goldeneye is a great one too.

A couple from me..

FYEO - the intro into Corfu. The camera cuts from a 'Dove badge' to a floating monastery in the early morning mist. The music is just sumptuous at this point

OP - the Monsoon palace being lit up at night.the arclights go on as Orlovs helicopter arrives and there it is in all its glory

TLD - the Majahadeen in the early dawn desert light. The dawn light streaming from behind them making them silouettes.

Very nice shot, exactly the one I was thinking of when I first saw this thread. I believe even the DVD commentary track makes note of this moment.

Gotta add another one...In TWINE, the introductory aerial shot of Bond in Azerbaijan driving through the oil fields. All this vast industry in the desert.

Sigh! Wish I'd seen this thread before. all the shots mentioned are great ones indeed. At least some of them I feel so.

One which has not been mentioned and which I really like is from the most underrated film which looks and feels very cheap and dull.

I love the opening shot of LALD (immediately after the gunbarrel)of Gotham City. The aerial view of the Big Apple is awesome, showing the UN building.

My 2 that spring to mind have been mentioned earlier

The aerial shot on Kobe Docks on YOLT
The aerial shot as Bond and Tracy are exiting the Barn in OHMSS

A couple more

The shot just as bond skis off the cliff into thin air, before the parachute is open in SWLM.

The also oft mentioned shot of the Lotus, as it is plunging into the Water. Also from SWLM

Also mention the Bungee from GE but that's a gimme I guess.
I guess for these above, why I like them is they all capture shots, part of which is a pause , anticipation , before the action(e.g. the parachute opens or the car turns into a sub)

It's a small, subtle one.

In GE, right after Pierce is introduced by punching the guy on the toliet (NOT my favorite scene), Bond starts at the top of stairs, gun in hand. The camera moves beyond the wall, revealing a closeup of Bond. It's all done in one shot.
