Well see, Eddie Murphy plays a captain of a spaceship that looks like Eddie Murphy.
No I havent seen the movie, but I do this useless piece of knowledge.
Thanks for the clarification, Jimmy. I won't confirm it by seeing this turkey though.

Just as a creative challenge (I'm not a particular fan of BHC), I've tried to work out what exactly is a BHC movie!
Axel Foley - wisecracking, streetwise, fish-out-of-water cop
Beaucrocrasy - in the form of Taggart and Rosewood
A posh, glitzy Hollywood surrounding/setting - an implicit contradiction to "urban" cop, Foley
LA wackiness - something for those midwesterner's to laugh at i.e. the Serge character
A Californian, blonde babe
A mean, Euro villain
Drugs, arms, money laundering have been done.
Tonally - hip, funny but edgy, streetwise, danger funny
The Axel F Theme
The character should have progressed since the last film. I want Axel to have, gulp, a kid! I could imagine Axel wisecracking off some smart

Synopsis
Renate Fratini, a Danish WMD manufacturer, is caught in an elaborate sting operation at the Griffin Observatory headed by Taggart and Rosewood. However, it nearly goes wrong as Svensson has apparently been tipped off. Nevertheless, they need to process his extradition to the World Court and deliver him to LAX in 3 days. After another attempt on his life, Taggart, now heading the dept, considers they have to think outside the box. They need an outsider who knows the inside.
Cut to Detroit. Axel Foley is ensconsed is a thrilling rooftop chase after notorious catburgler, Drew Struzan. After being tricked and failing to keep up, Axel finally outwits and captures Struzan. Back at the station, Axel is being teased about nearly losing Struze and his famous Hollywood hotshot past. Even Struzan has a pop. Axel F chastises the kid and says he knows all about the kids of today. He then finds he must travel to LA again, for special services.
At LAX, he is nearly killed in an exiting chase gunfight. He is driven incognito to a strange frilly gun emporium/range. The owner makes a grandly camp entrance: Serge. Taggart greets Axel sheepishly but warmly - "I don't wanna hug a man in a place like this". He explains the situation. Axel says he needs a police badge and one other thing: Rosewood.
We meet Rosewood as a Tactical Bomb Disposal Instructor. He changes into plain clothes and elaborately takes custody of Svensson. They RZ with Axel at Serge's and then have to kill 2 days while the World Court jet gets juridiction to land at LAX.
It is suggested they mix with the Hollywood elite - the last place villains would look for a terrorist and police protection. Axel meets his son, McGinnis Foley, (the kid he had with Jenny Summers from the first film) an aspiring actor who has just got a role playing a streetwise Detroit kid cop in LA. Axel rolls his eyes. He is prepping for the role with Gouzee, beautiful stuntwoman who used to work in private security. Hilarious and dangerous antics ensue as Svensson's crack rescue squad (Peak, McCarthy and Gold) engage Axel Foley in a cat-and-mouse chase in and around the lavish reality of Beverley Hills and Hollywood. At some point, McGinnis Foley confuses a transexual prostitute with a female cop.
Axel realises he hasn't lost his streetwise cunning and his knowledge of Beverly Hills helps him outwit his enemies in an explosive game of chess where the winners win and the losers die in a tense and surprising conclusion.

What are the elements of a Beverley Hills Cop movie? Is it just Eddie Murphy or is it a particular set of cirumstances? The problem with Die Hard 4.0 is that they thought all there was to the franchise was Bruce Willis. Not the circumstances, the character of John McClane.

I like some of your ideas. Mads Mikkelson would make a great villian. For god's sake, don't give Axel a kid and I don't want him to loose his edge either. Also Arnold shouldn't compose the score, I'd settle with Alan Silvestri. Also no Beyonce. I liked the idea of David Mamet but Paul Haggis ? Nah.

My point exactly on June 4:
The one thing that could make this movie rock will not come to pass: if we had a middle-aged, establishmentarian Axel--humorless and beaten-down--reconnect with his inner lost badass self...what a treat that would be.
I know Murphy could pull it off. But I'm convinced he's sold his soul to a horned devil named Disney.
So you wanna collaborate on the screenplay?
