Now on the CBn main page...

*Possible plot spoilers*

In the new Arena mag, Eva Green apparently spills the beans on BOND 22. We've heard it was going to be a direct continuation - well it's a REAL continuation (this was posted over at that *other* Bond site as a summary of her comments in Arena):

She said the film is a direct continuation in terms of story as it revolves around a dark secret Vesper has. Something about her lover being tortured or something, this leads Bond to his next mission. When asked if she would return in flashbacks she says that Vesper will likely return on a computer, a pre-recorded message by a web cam on the internet.

'Something about her lover being tortured' --- Read Ian Fleming's 'Casino Royale' --- he wrote about her lover being held captive in his novel and why Vesper did the things she did are explained within the book.

So they could be a flashback to that scene in Bond 22? :)

I don't think this is a spoiler for anyone who has read the CR script (or will see the movie on the 17th). It's pretty clear this boyfriend revealation directs Bond to the final scene (and it's pretty clear the final scene is the start of a new story).

Still. Cool. :)

Well, this is true. But to have confirmation of it is cool - this is the first time anybody's given any details about the story of BOND 22. Furthermore, the idea of Green appearing again, albeit in recorded message, is new.

Now does anybody want to go out and buy Arena, so we call all read the exact wording of Green's comments?

I'm happy that Green will be back as Vesper, usually in sequels a totaly different actress appears as the same character (if needed for a minor role).

Seems very plausible. Nice to get Vesper haunting Bond again, if only in a minor way. Not distracting from his new romance.

I just hope that we dont get Vespers spirit walking around, a web cam and a recorded message is fine for me :)

If Bond and the bf meet, wouldn't it be nice to actually play the awkwardness of that? And NOT FOR LAUGHS!!

Extraordinary. This is very Bourne, innit?

Personally, I prefer my Bond films rather more self-contained. Oh, well....

Yeah I got that exact same feeling...

The way I read that, it seemed to me that instead of leaving Bond a note why she killed herself in CR - Bond finds a post about it on her myspace in 22 later...can't say I care for that too much...hopefully I'm misunderstanding the whole thing.

Cool - on the assumption that this will not just be a revenge story but more a mission against this organisation where this bf character will be encountered along the way.

My God :) Some news on BOND 22 already. This is fantastic. Let the speculation begin!! Love the sound of this bare outline of the plot already. Perhaps we could see the Algerian link be used to see a connection to some sort of Middle Eastern terrorist link? That's my first guess on the subject.

I prefer my Bonds more self-contained as well, but I'll give this idea a chance. It's definitely going to be treading new territory for the franchise with such a direct follow-up, and at this point in the franchise, I'm just happy to see things being changed. For this period in the franchise, variety is a more than welcome thing.

However, I do think that once Craig's stint has ended, I'll probably be more than ready for a return to the Moore-style fun-for-the-family outing.

That does bring up an interesting thought, though: if Craig's "serious" and "darker" Bond takes off with audiences, would it be at all a wise financial decision to return to the campier, cringeworthy innuendo-spewing Bond? Or would audiences reject that after having become accustomed to the darker 007? Is it possible that we'll never see another Moore-style adventure? Stuff worth thinking about.

Absolutely.

So does this put added stock in the rumour that (POTENTIALLY ENORMOUS PLOT SPOILER FOR BOTH CASINO ROYALE AND BOND 22 COMING UP)
Spoiler
Should we now be taking this more or less as fact?

Is it possible that we'll never see another Moore-style adventure?

I very much doubt that we'll ever see another Moore-style adventure ( :) ), but not because of any lack of public demand or a perceived preference among audiences for "serious" Bond. I think the producers are too snooty to make an unpretentious, fun-for-all-the-family 007 outing these days (and indeed have been so for a while).

I think, for me, this was a given really.

Reading the script, this is why Bond goes to White, it was always going to happen.

Still its interesting though, speculation begins already...

I had seen this as a possibilty. The hunt for "the algerian" should be interesting to see where they take that. They could go either way with him being a baddie or not. They should make it a bit ambiguous. I could them using "The Property of a lady" as the title and it working well in the conext.

About White, I think if Bond dosen't kill him and the PTS for Bond 22 picks up where Casino Royale ends then they should kill off White. If there's an ensuing shootout with henchmen he should die in the crossfire or take his own life. Continue the tradtion started with Characters like Jones in DN, Henderson in YOLT, and more recently the banker in TWINE. Why make it easy for Bond? It's the start of movie, why not kill off his biggest lead? It's not like it's stopped him before and makes things a bit more interesting. :)
