Based purely on opinions though, that's a guide I would have difficult time following.

Well, that's why they've made so much money, I guess. Everybody has their favorite parts in each movie...except AVTAK and MWTGG, I mean.

Be fair. I happen to enjoy A View To A Kill and I don't care who knows! :)

It wasn't the typo that gave me difficulties, although admittedly that doesn't help your cause. And you've bitched about Craig plenty.

Well, the reason you were called a prick (though I do feel Stamper was out of line for using this particular word), was because you took his post praising god and made him out to be some kind of fanatic. Just because he's enthusiastic about Craig does not mean he needs to be ridiculed by those that don't.

If you wan't people to respect you for your opinions, you have to respect them for theirs.

He's just proving his opinion means nothing. Who cares whether he's still banned or not -- it's the "trolling/insulting and lieing."

But if I have to name one guy out there who is dynamite at scoring a film, I'd give the nod to Danny Elfman. Anyone know if he was ever approached?

Elfman's scores have been repetitive and stale ever since Dick Tracy. That was the last good score he did. Since then, he's been recycling himself endlessly. I think hanging around Tim Burton (the grand-high mother of self-recycling) has had a very lousy effect on him. He had tons of potential when he started out, but it's gone now.

As for Arnold, I liked his non-Bond stuff in the past, but he hasn't really done much else since joining the series. The guy's got talent; he needs to spread his wings and get back to scoring other movies. It'd be a shame to see him stagnate and wind up like Elfman.

....if I remeber I told him that he may be setting himself up for a terrible disappointment come Nov 17

That's what pissed him off (excuse my langauge). Where do you get off telling him not to get excited?! We're on a James Bond fanboard, god forbid someone wants to be optimistic about the hew Bond film. And really, I think the reason he called you a prick was because you opened up your post saying something along the lines of "This must be the Craig is God person."

No source to hand, but I recall that someone who seemed to really know his stuff (The Cat, perhaps) pointed out on CBn a while back that Barry was in talks to score both GOLDENEYE and TOMORROW NEVER DIES, but that on both occasions negotiations fell through over money. Seems believable enough.

Perhaps Barry's sour attitude is due to the fact that he was not able to score those two films than anything having to do with (his percieved) quality of the recent films?

Growing up as a kid watching FRWL/Goldfinger/Thunderball/YOLT/DAF on t.v., it was Barry's music that provided the soul to the movies.

Barry was a maestro. A genius.

I do think he's been a bit too sick to take real note of what's going on Casino Royale wise.

I wish you the best of health, John. If you do get a chance come late November, do check out the film and then make up your mind.

:-)
