I'm really in the mood for Quantum of Solace now!!!
Believe me, you're not the only one!
I'm gonna stick The World is not Enough in the player now. Since I watched Tomorrow Never Dies yesterday and GoldenEye, the day before.
Sounds like you're doing a bit of a Brosnan-era revisit, MHarkin?
Indeed I am. Despite everything, I really like Brosnan plus I was in the mood for some light entertainment. I dont think I can stomach Die Another Day this morning though, I'm feel too bad as it is!

Fair enough. I am back at work, after 2 days off for a minor operation. Funnily enough, I watched AVTAK before I had my 4 hours in hospital, and then TSWLM when I got back. Interesting combination. I love TSWLM but have never been a fan of AVTAK, but I actually enjoyed the first hour alot. I think a lot of it had to do with Sir Godfrey Tibbett and Bond's angry reaction "Killing Tibbett was a mistake".
I am now in the mood for Goldeneye.

Someone should just do a count of all the mentions here and see what movies are watched the most.

I really feel like I'm in the mood for A View to a Kill today, despite everything I like it. Definately gonna watch it this afternoon.
And how was it?

Watch AVTAK with just the commentary on. I did that yesterday and it was an interesting experience. I think I may actually be mellowing towards it but am not yet ready to move it up from my #21 position.
Meanwhile, I'm in the mood for a double feature of The Man with the Golden Gun/Moonraker, the two most underrated of the 1970s Bond films.

I'm in the mood for Quantum of Solace right now!
Me too. I think it's going to be a cracking Bond movie and while maybe not as good as Casino Royale it's going to rock our pants off.

Licence to Kill. It's been a while since I've seen it and I'd like to see how it stands up against Casino Royale since I just rewatched that for the first time in over a year. Also, Quantum of Solace looks kinda Licence to Kill-ish to me.
Yes, I agree that Quantum of Solace has a kind of LTK & TSWLM look to it. I haven't seen LTK for a while either, so that may be the next one I watch.

From what little I've learned about QOS, it seems like a hybrid of LTK(Bond going rogue to Latin America to avenge death of a woman), TND(lots of action), GF(villain dominating the supply of an important resource, i.e.,water in QOS, gold in GF), and FYEO(heroine wanting revenge against villain for crimes against her family). Of course, I'll have to wait to Nov. 14 to confirm my hypothesis.
Watched a little of LTK last night. What struck me is in retrospect how much better LTK seems than it much more popular successor GE which I rewatched relatively recently. GE may have been more financially successful than LTK but I think LTK is the more artistically successful in the long run. Kinda like how DAF was the more popular film at the time but OHMSS is held in higher regard in the long run.

They are becoming my favorite films of the 70's. I loved Moore's humor in GOLDEN GUN. Moore threatening to shoot that gun maker in the balls was his best comedy moment ever. MOONRAKER I found Moore too exagerrated but there are some good scenes and dialogue that make the film more then watchable. The fight with Chang in the glass mueseum was the best one on one in Moore's tenure.

MR and TMWTGG were my 2 favorite Moore films when I was a kid. MR just seems to be the best of the Moore formula type Bond film and has the best female agent character in the series with Holly while TMWTGG features Moore's best performance in the role along with one of the 2-3 best villains in the series with Scaramanga and the funniest of the goofy heroines in Goodnight.
MR also features my vote for the best 5 minutes of any Moore Bond film-the scene where he's lured to the pyramid, Drax's girls appear, Bond falls into the pool, has the fight with the python and Jaws pulls him out. The John Barry music and Ken Adam sets are incredible here and it just epitimizes the beauty(in the girls and the sets) and the danger of the series. All without one word being spoken. Just pure cinema.

I loved Lee as Scaramanga, he was the last great Bond villian. The dinner table scene was also pure clas.

Ken Adam just went all out in MOONRAKER. I loved Drax's Amazon HQ.
