Sounds like you guys are getting a raw deal over there.

That's pretty much always the case when it comes to Bond DVD releases in the US.

Not just Bond, but many other franchises as well. I don't really understand why companies can go cheap in the US, but it's a typical thing. For Bond, at least this time around, you might be able to say it's because it's being handled by two different companies.

I'd like to see what the individual boxes look like. The fact that we haven't seen them and the fact that you can't buy them individually (or so it seems) leads me to believe that I may be right about the slim TV cases. Wouldn't be surprised. That's all I'm saying.

Thanx, Arbogast777.
You know what I realized about these sets? Even though I can't stand the lack of a monster box set or individual releases, I'm not in love with the box art, and I'm suspicious that we may get the slim TV cases (K1Bond007, you've made me nervous), the movie assortment was pretty well done. There is no set which contains all (or most of) the "worst" Bond movies (not that any of them are bad, just some are less good than others), and we get a nice variety in case we wanna buy one set at a time. I know the variety would upset someone who wanted "only Connery's," but it works for me.

Sorry :) I guess I won't be surprised either way. You really can't tell from a picture on the Internet, but... that said.. it does look much slimmer than say this.

I don't know what I plan to do. Thus far Volume 3 is the best of the bunch, IMHO - for what they contain, not the box covering. I may hold off till Casino Royale on DVD comes out and see if they reissue these in a different form at that time. I'm in no rush for movies I've seen a billion times (give or take 500 million or so) already even if they have more features and better quality. I think I can wait 6 or so more months.

Agreed. Each of the others has one or two movies I can easily live without. I wanted to buy them individually because I'm on a tight budget, but as long as I'm forced to buy them in collections they determine, I won't bother.

I'm totally disappointed.

GAH.

That would be one of the few things that would [censored] up this whole Bond DVD US release even more.

I must say that, if I were forced to pick just five Bond movies to own, my choices would be very similar to the movies in Volume 4: my two favorites Connerys (Dr. No and YOLT), my favorite Rog (Moonraker), and the best Brosnan (TND). Replace Octopussy with TLD and I would be content.

Well, not really content, since releasing the movies in these silly little volumes is the height of idiocy, but you see what I mean.

Simply going on favourites, my choice would probably be volume #4 as it has three of the movies that are in my top five: Moonraker, Octopussy, and Tomorrow Never Dies (The Spy Who Loved Me and [film=99]On Her Majesty

Has anyone noticed the MONO STEREO info! if not, look at that page again, this is fantastic. Finally we get the ULTIMATE treatement with the exception of the box sets (I rather like the individual dvd cases). hopefully they adjusted the picture on the few that had problems.

I'm not goin to harp about buying the boxes, at least we get 4 this time, meaning less cost to buy the few at a time. Blame me for being thick if you like, these DVD's exceed all my expectations.

Plus MONO!
