I Was an Extra in Casino Royale

I read the whole story today, and am glad I read it straight through instead of a piece here and there. Your comparison to sailors sounds appropriate - hours of boredom and moments of pure excitement.
You represented yourself and Americans abroad wonderfully. Your friendliness with everyone seemed to be paid back with help from your new friends and probably was the difference between the cutting room floor and the big screen!
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your story!

When we watch the Bond movies (Ultimate Editions or whichever version we see) we should note the "extras" in those scenes (nothing seems left to chance) and many of them had to be as excited as Grant and those of us who wish we had been in his shoes.

Great questions!
Yes, the $300 covered the ticket change--just!
And not to sound too sanctimonious, but I did give the tie back--everyone had been so kind to me, I can honestly say it never even occurred to me to take it.
Now if it had been a "Casino Royale" crew jacket...
Just kidding.

just one question... did you get Dan's or Eva's autograph ???

Sadly, no. On many sets asking for autographs is sort of frowned on, because the stars would never be able to concentrate on their scenes if they were being pestered by extras all the time. I settled for shaking DC's hand and congratulating him on the role.
That being said, I wish the crew would set aside an hour or so at each location (maybe at the end of the shoot) for an "Extra Appreciation Day" when you could line up and grab an autograph. It would go a long way toward good publicity--all the extras would tell all their friends, who would tell all their friends, etc.
I don't mean to say DC or EG were snooty--but they were working, and after their scenes were done, they were whisked off to the hotel quite quickly. Kind of hard to get an autograph without seeming like an annoyance...

It was a wonderful read, and captured the feel of being an extra quite well. (I've tried it myself, but that was something very different from Bond just a small movie)
also I saw something that might interest you if you haven't seen it already.

I was watching the new CR trailer and I'm pretty sure it was you I saw there in the back! If I'm right then I think you can be sure you will be seen in the final film.
EDIT: Yeah I saw you already had noticed...
but anyway thanks for that great story,

Can he be spotted in the actual movie? I've tried, casually, to spot him but never succeeded.
After Le Chiffre beats Bond the first time, he and his gang walk through the casino at which point you can see Grant seated at one of the tables.

Exactly. It's nice to see him. Plus he appears to be smiling too.
