Tell me about it. I hear he sits around all day arguing about why James Bond isn't at Comic Con instead of working.
And maybe SGT. ROCK.
You know unfortunately here, Kung Fu Panda also starring Craig (voice) comes out the same day. So does Iron Man. Then later on you got Indiana Jones for that summer and if it is still on track then probably Halo too.
Yeah, but I hear that movie has a crappy writer

I'm guessing the next one will probably be a similar timeframe after that too, as I'm expecting Craig to only do three and for those three to made over a rather short period of time.

What's with all this 07/07/07 rubbish? Did people really think that Bond 22 would come out 8-9 months after Casino Royale? The only way there was ever going to be a Bond film out on 07/07/07 would be if they pushed CR back. Do you 07/07/07 freaks really want that?
Casino Royale this November, Bond 22 eighteen months later. Sounds pretty good to me.
Agreed. The only way that we would be getting a Bond film in 2007 would be for EON to push back Casino Royale. But, I would find it hard to believe that, after a two year search for a new Bond, and a total of 4 years between films, that EON and Sony would just sit on a finish film and wait for the year 2007. And then there's the fact that they would have, had they waited to release it, been releasing it in January or February of 2007, which isn't exactly the best time to put out a blockbuster-type film.
I never thought that they were going to actually be able to turn around and get Bond 22 ready for a November 2007 release. To do so, especially now that there doesn't appear to be a finished script, would probably not signal well for the film's quality as it would more than likely be rushed just to capitalize on "007 in 2007". Frankly, I'm very happy that they didn't try to rush a film into theaters just to capitalize on that marketing ploy. I'd rather have a good film in Summer 2008 than listen to that catchphrase for several months.

Good news , any views on timelines for announcements (director, actors )and principal photography in 2007 for May 2008 release?
If the story on the front page about Roger Michell being in negotiations to direct Bond 22, then I would imagine that we would hear something about a director sometime in the next couple of months.

07/07/07 will actually be the release date of the improved, R1 DVDs of CR and all past films, in DVD as well as HD versions. I said it first !
Although I don't know if the release date that has already been reported is for R1, Casino Royale's DVD has already been announced for a May 22, 2007 release at least by a couple sources. 7/7/07 is a Saturday regardless. Nothing is ever released on Saturdays, generally on Tuesdays. The past films on DVD will be released this November.
Regardless, you said it first and were thus the one and probably only to be wrong.

You did say 'goofing off' right? I read that as something else.
I should be ashamed.

I'm a little surprised that less will be made of 2007 than could be - marketing etc - but the quality of the film is much more important. Once 2007 has passed no-one will even give it a thought.
So... one would imagine that Bond 23 will be released in Nov 2009 if they stick to 18 months, or May 2010 if they want to stick with summer releases. Either way, I can see Daniel's option-for-a-fourth film being released in 2012. I believe there is some sort of anniversary that year....

Eh, some of us knew it was too good to be true. Honestly, what do you want more? A great Bond film? Or a moderately ok Bond film in 2007?
Yeah, because all that time they put into DAD ended up with one of the best films ever! They ed up bigtime as far as I'm concerned. They've only had the franchise for 45 years but they couldn't make the one year with their hero's famous code number in it. Good job, guys. And like someone else said... Don't they EVER plan ahead??? They have to be the laziest production company in the history of film!

Now I'm sure, they're going back to the base.
And probably they found a new Connery's kind of actor.
Well, very well!!!!
Thought It's a little bit disappointing they miss a 2 007 release...

For those fearing quality issues with a 12-month break between Casino Royale and Bond 22, as has been pointed out, a three-year break didn't do much for Die Another Day, so why couldn't Bond 22 be successful with only one year? And it's not like EON is going to start producing Bond films every single year. This would have been a rare and special occasion. Besides, they had said upon announcing Daniel Craig as James Bond that the script for Bond 22 was already being worked on. So they were already ahead of Casino Royale's schedule. Now we're hearing that the script isn't ready--or won't be ready--one year later? That's ridiculous. Surely a polished script can be ready in that amount of time. After all, some of the characters are returning for Bond 22 so they don't even need to be created. No, I'm afraid I do not find this news all that rewarding or enjoyable.
And as for Bond returning to the summer? I'm a little leery. Winter has always been good to Bond from Sean Connery to George Lazenby to Pierce Brosnan. Summer wasn't bad for Roger Moore either, but Timothy Dalton had some issues--including a big one which will face Bond 22. That being a lot more stiff competition than is seen in the winter, a fact which was not a good thing for Licence To Kill regardless of the terrible lack of publicity, et al, it received in 1989. While I don't doubt that Bond 22 will do well in May 2008, I can't help feeling that after three or four weeks it will begin to be swallowed up by the action blockbuster competition--something that wouldn't happen for six weeks or so in the winter.
Anyway, I guess to sum it up, Bond will be back--just not soon enough.

1. Quickest successive release since LALD and TMWTGG
2. Sony and Eon obviously rate Craig VERY highly and are prepared to put their money down to back this feeling up
3. Extra time given to Bond 22 MAY improve it
4. 2008 gets the series on a even-year release course which lines it up nicely for 2012
5. 2008 is the Fleming centenary year
6. We are back to summer releases, which many of us prefer
Believe me, the HD-DVD Bond series, the new Bond game, and the release of CR on DVD will ensure that we are all kept very busy in 2007 and that our hero plays a prominent part in that year.
PS: I do not work for Eon's marketing or public relations department!

To say that I am ecstatic that Bond is NOT to be released in 2007 is an understatement. Bond does not need a gimmick in the same way he does not need to attend Comic Con conventions - there is a maturity in this decision that is very pleasing to see.
I mean, who really gave a s--t that the new Omen film was released on 06.06.06? At the end of the day, it will always be remembered for how the film was received and viewed - the release date will pale into insignificance following its release.
Great news, good luck.

In 2007, Hugh Jackman should of debuted as Bond, and Brosnan's last should of been in 2005, they messed it up, and can't believe how many people here actually think Casino will be successful.

They're probably going to wait until 7007 to do it so it's 007 both ways. I think I'll start a countdown...They are probably saving the marketing gimmick for 3007. Why use all bright ideas at once.

And does anyone really think that the 2-007 gimmick would have increased ticket sales? No one I know goes to movies based on their release dates.

I am extremely disappointed and a little upset with this news. I was greatly looking forward to 007 in 2007. Yes, it's a marketing gimmick, but it's a great one. And one that is--at best--a once in a lifetime opportunity. This is something that could have happened and SHOULD have happened. Just think of all the publicity (free and otherwise) Bond 22 would have gotten. Now it will be one of the greatest missed opportunities of the series.

I'm not worried about competition. Considering LTK went against Batman and Indiana Jones, it did fine. Obviously Bond 22 will not face competition that stiff.
I might be alone in thinking this, but isn't 007 in 2007 somewhat cheesy/lazy?

HOLY CRAP! This is official! May 2, 2008!
IGN scores the scoop!!!
It's not 2007, but I am happy to see that we will not have to wait a full two to three years after Casino Royale for Bond 22.
Very good news

You're not alone. I've always thought that "007 in 2007" would have been a very lazy way to market a Bond film. I'm really glad that they decided to push it back to 2008 for several reasons. First of all, we're finally getting a Bond film in the summer (well, close to it anyway) and it probably won't be rushed since it's almost two years away, whereas having a film out by the end of next year might have been to much of a rush to get it done in time.

Some speculation from the literary side of the Bond world -- could this mean we will get a Bond 22 novelization, Young Bond 4, and the Centenary novel all in 2008? Three Bond books in one year. Nice.
EDIT: And the SilverFin graphic novel.
Four Bond books in one year...
Please excuse me while I salivate.
Casino Royale's DVD has already been announced for a May 22, 2007 release at least by a couple sources.
Not for Region 1. When I contacted SPHE my media contact there told me that no date had yet been set for the R1 release.

You mean an extra half year The Dove...I'm thrilled it's gonna be just 1.5 years away from November...so, 2007 will have to be all about BOURNE!
Anyway, I'm very happy to have Bond back in theaters during the summer...Bond movies make me wanna go scuba diving and do summertime stuff! The 80s are back!
Ahh yes Tarl! Half a year is even better!! Thats right almost forgot Bourne Ultimatum is out next year.. plus hopefully Indy 4 and Die Hard 4, so I should be quite content til 2008 for the next Bond film!
