07/07/07 would have been completely unfeasible.

I always thought that 2007 rumor sounded dubious. That was just way too tight.

I say if you want a film out only a year after filming raps on Casino Royale, then you are looking for a very rush film - script needs to be finalised, new actors need to be cast - new Bond girls, baddies, minor roles etc.

Pre-production and post-production take a while - 07/07/07 would have been a very unrealistic release date.

Not if they would have had an identical schedule to CR with a different director. I guess it depends. It was possible, IMHO.

This date probably means they'll start shooting in June and finished around November or so. Just a guess though.

I echo that sentiment. I've given up all hope that this film is ever going to happen.

As for the official release date...nice! It's still earlier than it would have been!

I think that it's great that we're finally getting a summertime Bond film. I was never all that excited about them turning right around and trying to get another Bond film out in 2007, especially now that it seems that the script isn't as far along as one might have thought it would have been at this time.

It certainly is a gigantic vote of confidence in Daniel Craig. There is no way Sony would greenlight Bond 22 and let it compete in summer if they didn't like what they are seeing with CR...a lot.

That's very true, and something that I didn't quite realize when I first read the article. November can't get here soon enough.

Might this mean we see "Bond returns in ------" at the end of CR? Or am I getting ahead of things!?

I certainly hope that is the case. It would be awesome to see that instead of the generic "James Bond Will Return". Hopefully, the "Risico" rumor will turn out to be true.

Some speculation from the literary side of the Bond world -- could this mean we will get a Bond 22 novelization, Young Bond 4, and the Centenary novel all in 2008? Three Bond books in one year. Nice.

EDIT: And the SilverFin graphic novel.

2008 is looking like it could be shaping up to be one of, if not the, best year the Bond franchise has seen in a very, very long time. It would be awesome if they could get three books out that year, as well as a film, and then of course all of the merchandising that goes along with that as well. Can't wait.

You know unfortunately here, Kung Fu Panda also starring Craig (voice) comes out the same day. So does Iron Man. Then later on you got Indiana Jones for that summer and if it is still on track then probably Halo too.

And maybe SGT. ROCK.

Great news. It's a show of confidence in Craig and the direction he and the franchise are taking. Plus, it bodes well for the first story arc since the 60s, and the likelihood of a "James Bond will Return in..."

Hopefully, Bond can hold his own in summertime. Maybe this can even help revive the summer blockbuster.

I'm disappointed that it's not coming out in late 2007. They could have done made the date if they wanted too, they just didn't plan ahead. That's one thing I just don't get about EON. They never have multiple scripts or the art department/production designers working on more then one film at the same time. When one script is ready they shoot it and by the time they're done filming it the next script will be ready to shoot. Give everybody a few months off then get right back to it. It's not like EON has anything else to do. They only make Bond films so they're should always have one or two films in development.

Ok end of rant.

I'm excited that Bond is returning to summer and that it's going to kick-off the summer blockbuster season. Looks like SONY plans to have Spider-Man and Bond rotating as their summer tentpoles.

I do worry however that we could be repeating the mistake of releasing Licence To Kill's summer release. There's a lot of similarities to Craig and Dalton. Bond will even be competing against Indiana Jones again. Plus Mission: Impossible 3 had the first weekend in May and it failed to kick off the summer with a bang.

Of course all of my concerns won't really matter if Casino Royale is a massive success. One thing I am glad about is that we don't have to wait two more years for the next film.

Finally Bond is a summertime event again. Fantastic news! I didn't really think Bond 22 was gonna make it by 2007...anyway, they can make a super duper cool DVD for the big 2-007 release.

Oooooh....wouldn't that be great? Hopefully there will be one. I mean, all they really need at that point is a title, right?

While I am dissapointed in not having Bond 22 in 2007,on the other hand I realize that its probably for the best in having a May 2008 release date. This way EON will have plenty of time to make sure they get the story and script perfect, instead of hashing out a quick script, which would compromise on the quality of the next film in order to meet the 2007 release date.. I think I can wait an extra year!!

*007 comes once in a millennium and they decide not to release a 007 picture that year? what a waste of a free marketing/publicity gimmick.

[censored] sorry about my French, but these [censored]ing lazy bums, why can't they just put in some more efforts for a 2-007 release??? They have now [censored]ing ruined it, big time!!!!

Excuse my language, but you can see i am very pissed about this.

It won't be another 1 0 0 0 years before this comes again!!!
Although I hope Bond will last that long, I will definitely not!!!

And yet they missed this opportunity!!

God damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean an extra half year The Dove...I'm thrilled it's gonna be just 1.5 years away from November...so, 2007 will have to be all about BOURNE!

Anyway, I'm very happy to have Bond back in theaters during the summer...Bond movies make me wanna go scuba diving and do summertime stuff! The 80s are back! :D

Eh, some of us knew it was too good to be true. Honestly, what do you want more? A great Bond film? Or a moderately ok Bond film in 2007?

I'm not so sure that summer is a good time for Bond. The last 4 have done quite well during the holiday season where there is less competition in the action field. I'm not so sure how Bond will handle the competition during the summer months. The last Bond movie we got during the summer was LTK - we all saw how well that did.

This is great news. Although I would have loved to have seen the next movie in 2007, an eighteen month gap is still much better than four years. :D

I also hope we will get the title of the next movie at the end of Casino Royale. November can't come soon enough.

Supposedly there will be more. That's how they make it out anyway, but from other aspects of Fleming's life - not strictly Bond.
