If this is old news please close this thread, but if you read down it says that the film will be released in May of 2008....?

Columbia Pictures and MGM Announce May 2, 2008 Release Date for 22nd James Bond Adventure Starring Daniel Craig

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- It was announced today by producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Sony Pictures Entertainment, that the 22nd James Bond adventure will be released by Columbia Pictures on May 2, 2008 with Daniel Craig reprising the role of the legendary British secret agent.

The story for the latest James Bond film produced by the franchise holders, EON Productions has yet to be announced.

"As we wrap production on CASINO ROYALE we couldn't be more excited about the direction the franchise is heading with Daniel Craig. Daniel has taken the origins of Ian Fleming's James Bond portraying, with emotional complexity, a darker and edgier 007," said Wilson and Broccoli.

Great, it's true! Wasn't sure, but it sucks we have to wait until 2008, I'm sort of depressed now. Oh well.

Oh sorry, I just realized that this news is posted in "Bond 22 & Beyond," so you might want to delete this thread.

A 12 month turnaround was too quick to ensure quality anyway... still means we'll be getting a 2nd film pretty quickly.

I'd rename this thread to talk about production wrapping, which is the other announcement in that press releasing.

But this is still a gap of only 18 months, which surely makes it the fastest turnaround since LIVE AND LET DIE/THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.

The really cool news about this is that Bond is at last summer movie fare once again. I've hated them being kicked back to winter over the past decade.

A 2007 realese is only possible if the script is finished and that would be great (at least for the markerting department). But if they don't even have a writer (as the article claim) it would be far better to wait until Nov 2008 IMO. Why make something half-baked?

Zencat seems to have updated his YBD with a basic news round-up and a very cool "Risico" picture. Nice.

May 28th would have been a better date for a 2008 release. Why? Fleming's 100th. Still neat to see a confirmation on this finally.

Like that? Thanks. :D

Funny, I just put up my first Bond 22 story on Tues and added a link to Bond 22 news on my front page, and now we get big official news. (But I'm still a literary Bond site -- I just put up the big official stuff regarding the movies.)

Bond 22 News & Rumor Roundup...

Official: Bond 22 Coming May 2, 2008

May 28...release date for Centenary novel maybe?

May 2008 is going to be a big month for Bond.

That's good news.

You know unfortunately here, Kung Fu Panda also starring Craig (voice) comes out the same day. So does Iron Man. Then later on you got Indiana Jones for that summer and if it is still on track then probably Halo too. Summer just doesn't vibe with Bond, IMHO, but go for it Mr. Bond. It's better than November 2008... for the fans.

Sounds exciting. The good news is that they wouldn't be jumping ahead so quickly unless they were really happy with Daniel Craig.
