Isn't it great the way it's always the little details that trip you up? :)

Yes, I know. Thank you. :) Technically Connery and Dalton are British.

Nothing technical about it Mansfield.
Connery, Dalton and Moore ARE British .
Edinburgh's most famous son is a Knight of the British Empire after all!

Other than that it was a good post.

My aunt just went there for two weeks. I kept asking her, "Did you see Sean Connery?"

Sorry about that. I actually partially agree with you. I think that an American could play Bond.

However...

For an American actor to even be considered for the role of James Bond not only would he have to do a very convincing British accent, he would have to be head and shoulders above all of the competition. By casting one of us Yanks Eon would risk alienating the whole of Great Britain and much of the rest of the world. Think about how the British press would come out negatively against it. Think about how the world press would pick up on what the British press were saying. An actor would have to be bloody fantastic to overcome that.

I posted a 'what if' thread along time back on who people would choose for Bond if it had to be played by an American and in my opinion none a the few chooses offered (including mine) would have what it takes to overcome the stigma of being American.

If it HAD to be an American. Dylan McDermant could probably pull it off. He's got the right look for it. The accent and everything else that goes with the part who knows, but at least he looks the part.

No way in hell would the guy from The Practice make my list. You think how bad it is for those guys who still like Dalton. If they put the guy from the Practice in there, Armageddon would be upon us for sure.
