Haha! Are you thinking of that line when Connery says he was with British intelligence? It made me laugh when I first saw The Rock.

Likewise, though not as much the scene when Connery's character is fighting one of the rogue soldiers, who describes him as an "English" expletive deleted. I imagine that went down well with cinema audiences north of Hadrian's Wall! B)

1. Goldfinger(Just classic)
2. Thunderball(Connery's best performance as bond, great movie and equal to Goldfinger in many respects)
3. Diamonds Are Forever(Really fun and entertaining movie, but a bad follow up to OHMSS)
4. From Russia With Love(Good movie, haven't seen this one in a while)
5. Dr. No(Was good, didn't really feel like a "bond movie")
6. Never Say Never Again/You Only Live Twice(YOLT was boring but had a great villain in Donald Pleasence, and NSNA was just weird)

Yes, it's James Bond heresy but I stand by it: Goldfinger is complete filth, Never Say Never Again is great fun and Dr. No ought to be put on continuous repeat.

I didn't mean it in a bad way, But last time i watched it, it felt different from the rest, I don't know why(FRWL also has this feeling with me). But it is still a great debut for the character and a good movie all around.

I guess I think of Dr No more in context of the Novel rather than the other films, and as far as book to screen goes Dr No was one of the best adaptions.

FRWL (tied with OHMSS) is the best Bond film of all time, awesome thriller thats almost perfect in every way. GF is the funnest of his entries, while not at the expense of the character of the world he inhibits (Guy Hamilton forgot this later on). DR. NO is also an excellent thriller, but there's something missing in it I can't quite put my finger on it to tell. NSNA has great villains and I enjoy the emphasis on intrigue here, but also bad with its totally inappropriate score and myriad problems that EON's lawyers felt fit to prevent from not happening. TB is the best of the action-packed, story-driven Bonds, but its largely lacking in villains and a conclusion. YOLT is visually as good as any other Bond in the 60's, and its certainly as epic as TB and OHMSS, but the story is largely stupid, and super campy, at best - not my idea of a Fleming Bond, per se. Not to mention the complete miscast Blofeld and the ridiculous premise of space swapers.

And DAF... Well, lets just say its one of the top 3 worst Bond films of all time, and we'll leave it at that.

Basically, I'm a big lover of Terrence Youngs work, and hate the overly-Americanized approach of Guy Hamilton.

Goldfinger, for me, has it all. FRWL is the best of the Connery straightforward thrillers and YOLT, for all its perceived faults, is great, escapist large scale fun. When I started to think about it, DAF actually came out higher on my list than I expected it to (it was a toss-up between it and Thunderball). And it may be heresy, but, aside from the iconic casino/ Ursula Andress bikini scenes, I'm not that struck on Dr No and find it a bit dull.. and I really have to be in the right frame of mind for NSNA...
