I want to say that the only films that should be remade are the films that had a lot of potential and failed or were mediocre. CR fits the bill here and so does GOLDFINGER.

Just saw a tv ad for it. Daniel was not featured prominently, though he did get equal billing, i.e. it showed Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig's names together at the end.
From the one I've seen, you'd be hard pressed to know DC was in it at all (except for his name appearing at the end)...

Agreed. Kind of surprising to me.

This film is way to close to Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers for my liking.
Because it is officially another remake of that film.

Did the studio think we needed yet another remake of a remake? Or are they just seeing the potential dollar signs?
Edit: Guess I should've read all the posts before posting. It appears this is, indeed, a remake. *sigh*

Hollywood seems to love remakes.

I thought this was the 3rd. I know of the original 1956 and the 1978 remake - when was the other?

No Daniel Craig, alas. But the theater on the Warner Brothers lot is really cool. They had posters of the film all around the outside of the theater. Inside they were serving wine and lots of yummy appetizers. I couldn't keep my paws off the BBQed shrimp.
Anywho, the movie... I enjoyed it. I was a little worried at the beginning cause there was some really bad acting going on. Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig are not included in that bad acting and I thought they were wonderful. The acting from everyone else seemed to get better as the movie went on, that or I just got used to it. The film itself even though a remake was still intense, there were good moments, suspense. I like Kidman though and of course watching Craig has become an experience in itself. There was some ridiculous unnecessary overboard action near the end that did NOT fit with the rest of the film, even the way they had the "invaded" act did not seem like the rest of the movie. This of course was the evil work of the Wachowski Brothers. None the less, it was fun.

Seemed to me that "The Invasion" ended on an UP note actually. Looks like we did get something different with this version. All the previous versions of this film for the most part have ended on a down note so i would not expect anything different this time.

Apparently the studio was not happy with the original cut of the film. So they hired James McTeigue, director of 'V For Vendetta,' to come in and do reshoots and to shoot more footage. It's probably not obvious, but should be interesting.

It is clearly Nicole Kidman's movie though, with Daniel in a definite supporting role. He does have a good scene towards the end where
Overall, it felt like an average X-Files episode. I'd be interested in seeing the original cut because I think it'd be better than what ended up on screen, maybe at some point down the line it'll be released on DVD, like the Paul Schrader Exorcist prequel or the fired director's cut of Payback.
