This guy is like sean bean.WOW.I think they wanted someone young ,imposing and energetic to match bond in every aspect.I think this would work.

Don't suppose you'll do the honourable thing and apologise for your stream of posts insisting that your friend Gulshan Grover was confirmed as being in this film?

What am I thinking?

Seeing you are from Denmark you must be talking about Mads Mikkelsen.

I agree! I'm in the US and discovered him a couple years ago. I have all of his movies on DVD that I could find.

He IS an incredible actor! I'm excited that I will be able to see him in my local theater soon!

Would have preferred an older "toad-like" actor for Le Chiffre but I guess this isn't 1967's Casino Royale with Mr. Wells

But, like they said, it's been updated to suit todays time. Go get 'em Craig!

According to the Hollywood Reporter-- the characteristics of Le Chiffre are being based on Aleister Crowley. For those who don't know he's an old time satanist(I believe widely known in the 1950's) who was infamous for exploring the dark arts--a truly bizzare person.

I wasn't sure if they meant Fleming based Le Chiffre on Crowley OR if Mads is basing his characterization on the satanist. Sounds kinda cool and warped.

Well any Fleming experts out there know if it was Ian who used Crowley as a Model? Or is it Mads?

"You must give me the name of you occultist!" (used before!)

From what I understand, I believe Le Chiffre was superficially based on Crowley, the clue being the irises of the eye surrounded by white and the benzedrine inhalation.

HR shoots, and scores!

The Crowley thing is in John Pearson's bio of Fleming, but I don't believe it. Le Chiffre looks nothing like Crowley, and Fleming repeatedly referred to Mussolini in the books re the iris thing. Pearson also claimed M was based on Fleming's mother!

Gosh darn it!

A lorra this is interpretive anyways, no?

Like Mads Mikkelson. Looks eerie. Looks sinister. That is a word that a Bond film should conform to. SINISTER. The best ones do.

I've been trying to access it for a couple days now...nothing....
I did get on it last week and there were several articles about CR, mostly what we've seen elsewhere, but the last one looked to be an interview but it it was in Danish and I'm afraid I don't speak Danish. :D

Not sure what's going on with it now...maybe it crashed from all the new attention!

Me being danish and a huge bond fan(a rookie on the forum though) i just wanted to say that Mads is a great actor....But not great for this role...

Actually Craig would be pretty good for this role(Im still not over the blond bond topic yet)...

Want to see the best of mads mikkelsen?

Watch some of the danish movies with text...

Pusher, The Green Butchers, Adams

I have seen most movies with Mads Mikkelsen, also the Danish ones. He is COOL and one of my favor actors. In my opinion he had far more carisma in King Arthur than the other knights.

He is very diversified and can play both nice guy and bad guy - not to mention he has been considered the most sexy man in Denmark for several years !

You will propably spank me for this comment - but I think perhaps Craig and Mikkelsen should have swaped roles in Casino Royale ( in terms of who is most cool ) - however time will show when they release Casio Royale.

He looks like a bog-standard Euro-villian from a Steven Seagal movie. Totally uninspired, absolutely nothing like Fleming's LeChiffre.

Will there actually be anything of Fleming's novel in Casino Royal? What happened to all that stuff about it being a faithful adaptation of the book?

Have we all been suckered by the usual EON hype?

I suppose you havnt wached a movie with Mads Mikkelsen.

He got IT.

In the picture for the film "Unit One" he kind of looks like a slimmer version of what I would picture Le Chiffre from the novel to be. I don't know much about him as an actor though, so I can't comment on him in that department, but in some of the pictures that I've seen, he certainly gives off a Bond villain vibe.

Anyway - seen most Mads Mikkelsen movies, he has played a vast amount of very different characters, and always convincing.

I think it will all depend on the CR director how Mads Mikkelsen finaly will appear as Le Chiffre. Hope he will not be balled, but more stylish and intellectual matching Bond in a casino.

I hope his strange features are highlighted and he is given an extra strange and scary look in the film. Maybe even some kind of deformity.
