I'd be quite satisfied with the casting choice.

He looks more like a henchman to me but I guess he'll be alright. Out of the rumored names I thought J

Perhaps someone knowledgeable in posting pictures can get one of Mads here--there is one at Imdb.

We were told a long time ago that Le Chiffre wasn't really going to follow the book's description and that they were looking for a younger guy to play him. So Mikkelsen seems to fit what they were looking for.

Mads Mikkelson looks a little too young and is far to handsome to play Le Chiffre. But still, it could be worse (actually I will be surprised if EON picks anyone older than 28 for this role

He looks typicly Danish! I couldn't take him seriously as someone without Danish roots.

A poster over at Mi6 says Popbitch.com is reporting Mads Mikkelson the 41 year old Dane actor is Le Chiffre--supposedly his father let it slip to them. Could be bogus--but who knows?

He was in King Arhtur as Tristan but I don't remember him. But he has a cool look and an even cooler name. If he can act i'd be fine with him as Le Chiffre. It would give Bond a formible opponent though not much older like some here like.

Popbitch is all rumor, I once read there that Gerald Butler was about to be announced as the new Bond. However, as we are a week away from the Bahamas shoot where the villain and the girl will be required for filming, I expect we'll know any day now.
As for Mads, hmm I dunno, can't tell much about him from the photos. I much preferred Jurgen Tarrach, who looked exactly how Le Chiffre should look.

It certainly can be bogus but you never know--sometimes places like this get something right. But yes I wouldn't place money on it. As to him being too Danish--I don't see that as a deadly objection. And who knows for sure what nationality they may change Le Chiffre to--it's a name that despite its origins can be used by anyone.

I like the casting. I agree that he would be a better henchman, but he has the look of a villain. I think that they could have done better than Mads Mikkelson, but for now, I like it.

Something about that photo of Mads, reminds me of Mr. Wint from Diamonds Are Forever!! lol.. I'm sure if this news is true, Mikkelson will be a very interesting choice for La Chiffre!! Hope this gets confirmed soon!

Wouldn't be the first time for this movie that proud parents can't keep their mouth shut.

But then again, the source seems to be a bit doubtful.

Could be an interesting henchman, but Le Chiffre? Wasn't fond of him in that role ever since I saw his picture when researching for our Euro Actors story.

Interesting--Danish media saying he was in talks for Le Chiffre. We'll know soon anyway.

I agree with most here in that Mads Mikkelsen looks more like a henchman than as the main villain. I did see King Arthur but I don't remember his Tristan role at all. As a result, I can't say that I would be all that thrilled to see him be cast as Le Chiffre (not that I would be overly disappointed either). I would prefer Jurgen Tarrach who does look a lot like Le Chiffre from the novel. Still, it doesn't sound like this rumor's source is genuine.

I can see him wielding a carpet beater, that's for sure. That picture had me shaking in my boots. Scary looking guy. Not how I'd have imagined Le Chiffre - but I think on-screen presence is more important (i.e. I'd rather have a Drax than a sniggering little Gustav Graves again). This guy just might have it.

As long as they can do the role justice I prefer the exact opposite. The less know the better.

What we need to do is, go to Denmark and start taking taxi rides, lots and lots of taxi rides until we get Mads's dad and he spills the beans!

He looks like death. He'd do.

Well the Eon press conference set for today seems to be only a thank you to the locals in Prague BUT the Variety article and one in Dark Horizons do have one nugget:

Both Variety and Dark Horizons say it looks like Mads Mikkelson looks to be Le Chiffre.

So Popbitch and the taxi driver dad may be correct after all. I may be wrong BUT i'm thinking we have our Le Chiffre--Mads Mikkelson.
