I was at Borders Books earlier this evening and found they had the Bond On Set book marked down 50%. So if you, like me, had been putting off the purchase, now is the time.

This is a very good book. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the alert, Christopher!

Got mine for a mere 40 percent off. Still kind of expensive for the book, but I got it anyway.

So, have any scans of this book surfaced? I wouldn't mind buying a copy but 1. hard to find here, and 2. the Australian dollar is so woreful at the moment that the book is insanely expensive for me.

there are scans in the photo thread in the QOS section (forget which page, but trawl through it and they're heaps there). I got mine online at booktopia. Free Pickup in Artarmon, Sydney, or they can send it to you for $6.50 anywhere in Aus. http://www.booktopia...1405332590.html - I found they had the best price, 35.95.

Dymocks/collins etc all sell it online for 39.95 not including shipping.

Well worth getting imo. Great Book. Also managed to track down a copy of the very very now elusive CR bond on set book at Galaxy Books in Sydney.

I'll check it out. Might buy the QoS one if it's around that much. However, was more after the Casino Royale one.

ah, my apologies I think I misread the title for the thread as QOS. But anyhoo, as I said I managed to track down a copy of CR bond on set at Galaxy Books, http://www.galaxyboo...s.asp?id=195057. They ship australia wide, but the price is hefty. I managed to get one of the last display copies, they took off 10% cause the cover had a minor tear. However I don't know if they stock anymore.

I've seen it also go on ebay the past few weeks. I think just last week there was a 2nd hand copy which went for pretty cheap in comparison to what you expect to pay now (i.e in the range of AUS$60+ inclu shipping.)

I bought the QoS Bond on set for 28 dollars with a 35% off voucher at borders - bargain.

However, was the CR Bond on set book thicker? It seems like the CR bond on set book I saw in stores a couple of years ago was more substantial (and I think the pictures were more interesting).

I think QOS has more pages but CR is 1.5-2inches wider as a book than QOS. Too me it feels the printing and the paper were better quality on CR, but QOS has a slicker overall design and layout. There's a full crew photo at the end of CR and Daniel Craig sits right on the spine and it's like WTF peeps? Anyhoo, that's one thing I'm really dissappointed in with QOS book is there is no full crew photo. I love those things, it's like where's wally.

Overall I love both of them, I'm tempted to buy the DAD bond on set, but then I can't say I really like the film that much.

I really want the CR book now. the QoS one is good but feels 'barren' for lack of a better term. I remember the CR pictures being more vibrant and 'fun' for some reason...more candid, less serious - a reflection of the feel on the two sets perhaps.

Don't really want to pay 70 dollars for it. Do any 2nd hand copies sell for cheap (around 20 AUD?).

I 'm sure there are. I found Bond on Set on 'The works', yesterday for (I think) £5. If not exactly that, something like that. You can definitely find a cheap copy.

Finally broke down and bought Bond On Set: filming Casino Royale. Apparently there are 2 versions of the book, and the one I got is about half the size of the Quantum of Solace Bond On set and doesn't have the pic from the torture scene that I have seen a scan of.

Does anyone know the details about the 2 different versions?

Sounds like you got the small version of the book that originally came with the special Target box set of CR DVD.

It is a hardback about 7.5 x 7.75 inches and 144 pages. Was the Target special that big?

yep, that sounds like the size of the Target book. The original book was closer to 11-12 inches tall. When I get home I can send you a photo of the size differences of the two books (I have both). i take a pic of them next to a bottle of wine for size comparason B)

Assuming you have a bottle of wine handy! B)

If that is the right book, then that was a heck of a nice special package they put together. I got the target special for Quantum of Solace and it was a disappointing little paperback shoved inside the cardboard movie cover.

The box with the book wasn't a special Target version, it was available everywhere.

The small one is 19 x 19.5 cm, whereas the large one is 29.5x31.5 cm (that's about the size of a vinyl LP).
The large one has 144 pages. The small one doesn't have page numbers, so I did a quick count: it's got 138 (if I did it right). Four of the missing pages are the pages with expalanations to some of the pictures (Daniel Craig and Gregg Williams in conversation) at the end. Then there's the aforementioned pic from the torture scene shooting (098/099) and the one of Dan and Satsuki (012/013), which was recently discussed elsewhere.

Pic of the books (with the CR DVD to give an idea of the size):

The smaller book is definitely the one I have, thanks for the confirmation and the additional details, Stromberg.

Other than my surprise as the small size I wouldn't have looked into there being 2 versions if the torture scene wasn't missing. I suppose they removed that pic due to the wider audience that may have bought the book, but other missing pages is a little odd.

I guess that gives me one more book to watch for!

Found a copy of the Casino Royale Bond on Set book through Amazon.com's used book dealers. Mint condition, including the dust jacket for $39 - about what it was new 3+ years ago.

Gorgeous book!
