Interesting; the DUD version has some nice photos (although at the expense of anything terribly in depth in the text).

Didn't buy the DAD one- it just looked too lacking in behind the scenes info. Nice pictures, though.

I'm annoyed by this. They can put the behind the scene's pictures onthe DVD or something. What I want to read is an in-depth making of like GoldenEye had. That was very interesting to read how they selected the new Bond, decided to build Leavesden Studios, how they shot the tank chase etc.

Casino Royale is also in the same situation, I'd like to read why they selected Daniel Craig, who else screen-tested, why they chose Prague and the other locations, why they brought in Paul Haggis, how they had to change the novel to fit the screen etc. But instead we're just gonna get pictures, great!

But the pictures of how they took Craig from what he is now to looking like James Bond'll be worth it alone.

Wow! What surprise to see this show up so early. Nice find, [dark]. I love "making of" books.

DK, eh? What happened to Boxtree? Weren't they the Bond publisher?

Boxtree is still "the" publisher in England, books released in the U.S. are different. DK has already done the very popular Secret World of James Bond.

David Worral tells me that he'll be doing a CR tie-in book as well. I don't know if it's this or another.

The DAD one was a bit desparate as a making of book - hoping the CR one will be back to facts and figures.

With the wealth of material available as above, Bond choice, book to film history etc, they really would be missing a trick if it were just a bunch of photos.

The DAD book had great pics but not much substance... Is it too much to ask for both this time?...

I'll welcome it into my collection in just under a year or so from now.

The thing I dislike in some of these books is when they do a synopsis of the film. Most likely, we've already seen it, and if we haven't, why would we want to read about it? So what does this add? If I want to read more about what went on in the film, I'll read the tie-in novel.

I for one would love to read a real "making of" book about this movie that tells us what really happened with Brosnan, the casting of Craig, the relationship between Sony/Eon, etc. There is a fascinating behind the scenes story here that I guarantee we will not read in any official book.

Me, too!

There's got to be some Eon fringe employee who'd find it worth burning the bridges with Eon to write the Bond tell-all of all Bond tell-alls! Any publishers in the house willing to post a 6-figure advance?

Bon-san, it would have to be a bridge-burner. Eon does not like "tell-all" and it does not like "unofficial" publications. I certainly don't expect to be praised by them for mine! People who write official books will lose opportunity and access if they write such a tell-all.

Interesting that amazon.com lists both October 16th and November 20th as release dates for 'Bond On Set: Filming Casino Royale'.

A curious cover, given that he won't be looking like that in the film.

I work at a place that deals with a large volume of cook books and wine books. The person who orders the books, saw Bond on Set from one of the publishers and ordered it for me (wholesale sure beats retail). I just got the book today (a few days before official release). It is great to see pictures that I have not seen before including pictures from the last scene in the movie and a behind the scene shot of the torture scene. Also some good shots of Craig practicing at a target range.

The torture and Craig in the firing range preferably - if it is possible. That must be a pic from the title sequence.
