Don't sheep traditionally flock? 'Gather' sounds like there's some kind of event they're all preparing for. A baah-mitzvah, perhaps.

[quote name='Agent Provocateur' date='10 November 2005 - 14:42']It's amazing how Daniel Craig gives an interview and sheds absolutely no light whatsoever on Casino Royale or his portrayal of Bond, and yet so many on this forum heap on the praise.

Does Craig give a f*&% about anything? He has just taken on the role of perhaps the most well know and recognized fictional character of all time and he acts as though he is going to fake his way through it. At this point his interviews suck! Most of the public is already skeptical, you would think he at the very least could be a bit more accomodating and try to encourage the fan base. Has he seen a James Bond movie? I know he maybe trying to play his cards close to his chest but it's a little ridiculous in my opinion. From the get go he acts as though he has no clue and doesn't really care.

I'm not on the bandwagon, and he's not helping.

Did it ever cross your mind that at this stage he might be under contract NOT to shed any light on the Movie?

Thank heavens he is not emulating Campbell's superfluous (and in my mind dumb / anal and oft mis-leading) musings.

As I said, Craig reminds me of Russell Crowe and is a breath of fresh air in relation to that idiot Campbell.

The more I read Craig, the more excited I get. The more I read Campbell, the more concerned I get.

I say let Craig loose on the world's media and put a muzzle on the other fella!

CraigBond is the star of the production. He's who I want to hear from. Him and Arnold and the producers. Not Campbell who seems like he's got his head up his schfinct.

View Post

Craig is who I want to hear from too... but he's not saying anything (which is why I'm so mystified at everyone's excitement over this "interview" - much ado about nothing if you ask me).

In response to the possibility that Craig might be under contract to not shed any light on CR or his portrayal of Bond, my question would be, why? Especially since Martin Campbell seems to be free to comment to the media on all things CR. Just operating on the theory that Craig is under contract to not say anything, I would have to wonder if it has anything to do with EON not trusting their star, which is odd behavior, but then again, EON has done strange and confusing things before.

I'm really quite sure there is nothing for him to say - just what is it you're wanting from him.

We can presume he's happy with the script since he's signed up. As for the rest..........
How's the filming going?
What do you think of your co-stars?
Are you doing all your own stunts?

There's nothing to say, so he's saying nothing.

Personally, I would like to hear him tell the moronic press, when the time comes, to come up with a better series of questions. If he has to offer inspiration, then inspire him.

"Wait and see" is the only thing we can do to judge his performance as Bond. But at this point, I think his attitude towards the movie and somewhat unexcited behavior is unprofessional and completely wrong for Bond... and the press will probably hang him for it.

View Post

I am sorry but what do you take as professional? It's a job for him, he is currently working on something else, the professional thing is to concentrate on the job at hand before starting the next one.

Daniel Craig doesn't take on a role he doesn't feel any enthusiasm for, and he puts 100% into it. He shouldn't be dismissing other directors/writers work which he is contributing to now just becuase he has a date with Bond next year, that is highly unprofessional. he has decided to keep his head clear of Casino Royale until he completes his current job.

I think it is a good hint for Casino Royale that DC said the clincher in taking the role was the script. He has said his worst mistake was taking the role in Tomb Raider, saying it was an utter waste of time, no character or acting involved. So Casino Royale must have a pretty good script for Craig to have been so drawn in by it.

Well he did tell us something indirectly, he has no idea this is a reboot as oppose to a origin/prequel like film. Boy is he in for a surprise, I guess we have to "wait and see" when it is too late to act on it... how he reacts to that

I hope he's coy with the press as long as he's 007. Brosnan spilled the beans about everything including his personal life and what was left in terms of mystery? Not much. I always appreciated that about Dalton-he wasn't a media whore. Just do your job and show up to Letterman, Entertainment tonight, the junkets...etc. but keep it all minimal. We don't need to know everything.

Bring in Dench, drop the reboot. Have CR as a straight entry

Where do you get that he doesn't know it's a reboot? I don't see that conclusively anywhere in there. He probably wasn't thinking when the question was asked. Besides, prequel isn't necessarily the wrong term to use, given the fact that CR will feature all the dressings of an EON Bond. It's an EON Bond film, still connected to the previous series. I think it's a prequel done in modern times, acting as if "DN" would come after in modern times.

Daniel Craig gives a f*** about his current projects and he'll give one about Royale when he finished Munich. That's called professionalism, and it means he gives 100% to the job at hand which he will no doubt do for Royale.

He doesn't care about status he cares about his job and his performances as an actor and also, clearly, supporting the organisation which got him to where he is now...for one. He is an actor, that is his job, it's what he does and he has a lot of passion for it. He is not there for the sole purpose of pleasing impatient Bond fans who can't just wait until their pet film starts up.

Just stop being so bloody impatient and wait until the film actually starts rolling and Craig will be giving interviews and there will be teasers and all of that.

Nah. It depends on the advertising and word of mouth. If BATMAN BEGINS was able to pull in the bucks with an American audience that seemed very ambivalent about Batman, so can Bond.

Not to mention, interest will be up because of the "new guy" factor.

What was great about Craig's interview for me was his response to the "Autograph" question. I also liked the fact that he is showing a slightly more friendly "media" side: more to come and he will be happy to talk when the time is right. As for him saying so little about CR, so what? A little suspense never hurt anyone. At no point does he come across as ignorant about the nature of Bond or CR. IMO, he is acting like a professional by staying focused on his current job, which is a major motion picture with Spielberg, something I doubt any actor would take lightly.

As for the gathering (or flocking) sheep ... ... Ironically, I think most people here supporting Craig are in the minority as far as the general public is concerned. And I've still yet to hear the fanaticism surrounding Craig that was so rampant with Owen or the "Brosnan Forever!" crowd.

"Vague and aloof"? Sounds like Bond to me! :D

Lol, yea 007 is always swearing in the books.

Films should have a little more swearing, smoking, drinking, dark character development and steamier sex scenes!
