They're taking their sweet time in announcing Aishwarya Rai as Vesper. If only Rikki Lee Travolta hadn't passed on Bond....

That was John Travolta, Loomis! Haven't you been reading the tabloids? :)

Dunno if you know this, but, yes, according to The Sun it was John Travolta.

I think John may have been asked, mind you, but Rikki Lee was clearly Eon's first choice. Well, maybe after Jackman.

Lesson #1

A James Bond article that includes the word "Bollywood" is most likely a rumour.

Zen, or someone else, perhaps you could merge this with the dozen or so other threads announcing that Grover has told everyone he's going to be the next Bond villain?

What a loser. Do you suppose he'll issue a Rikki Lee-style "rejection" two days before someone else is cast as Le Chiffre?

Quite. Instead of "the next Bond film's title is..." rumours, we get this.

This hasn't been hitting the popular newspaper or news channel, because to me it seems, Gulshan will have a smaller villianious role in the film. This rumour hasn't died down for ages, I think its genuiune.

And oh yes, Righty007 you wrong by saying any James Bond article with the word "Bollywood" is a rumour, as long it is written by a Bollywood publicist or Indian newspaper is most likely a rumour.

Said Grover: "To be in "Casino Royale" would be a real honour to me and my country."

Shooting for the Bond film is due to begin in Prague in February 2006. Grover said although he had commitments around that time, he would drop everything else, if required, to act in the film.

This does not sound like the words of a man who knows he has the part.

Hum, yes... this really doesn't seem binding now does it?

"He would drop everything else, if required, to act in the film."

Key words... "if required"

Very true. As do any reports which mention Connery returning as James Bond.

Prime example of the crapulance of the tabloids! Nonsense story with absolutely no basis to begin with, based, ironically enough, on another nonsense story with absolutely no basis to begin with.

Unless it's a story about, say, whether Daniel Craig is the new Bond or not. On the day he found out. Then they're pretty on the money.

Grover's publicist seems to be well worth his money. I bet it's the same guy who does Aishwaria Rai's PR. :)

Of all the Indian newspapers which have been reporting this for weeks, there seems to be at least one with a little sense of realism: The Mumbai Mirror.

This article reports, that "according to industry sources, Grover is presently camping in London, to lobby for the lead villain's role. The announcement on that front is expected in the coming week, though the news of Grover having signed up for the role has already appeared in London dailies The Evening Standard and [gasp] Daily Mirror." and quotes his publicist: "At the moment there are very positive indications about him getting a part in the Bond film. He is likely to return from London on Sunday."

It's clear. Grover wants the role, and he obviously would sell his grandmother to get it. If he is the Bond fan he claims to be, he should know that he surely lost it ages ago (if he ever was in talks) due to his own talkativity.

Exactly, [dark]. You couldn't make it up. I guess they're doing it deliberately, "for a giggle". If this carries on, I guess the next thing we'll read is that it was John Leguizamo who was Eon's first choice. :)

Lets wait till next week when EON does announce who Le Chiffre is.Any more discussion is meaningless and futile.

Further discussion is always "futile" when your favorite candidate is being torn to shreds. Thanks for the advice, Medrecess, but you're in no position to mediate this discussion.

And then, at last, Mr. Grover's final words on the story in this short interview with the Times of India.

I never said I was doing the film because I didn't sign it. All I said was that if I clinch this role, it will be a big honour for myself and the Indian film industry.

End of story.
