Yeah, I thought some one might say that, he'll be 48 in 2010 when Craig's tenure is tentatively slated to end. How he may age between now and then is a different story. It makes one wonder what might have been -- hell, I think that Richard Burton would have been an excellent James Bond. Unfortunately, 'twas not to be.He's a little old at this point. But he would've been good when he was a little younger.

That young Cavill guy, or, if they want to play it pretty safe, Julian McMahon.
I think that the best "candidates" out there at the moment are probably Gerard Butler and Julian McMahon. I had been in favor of Cavill for Bond #7, but someone pointed out somewhere on this site that going to him after Craig would be too radical of a change because of how much younger he is than Daniel Craig, and would probably almost necessitate another reboot. With that considered, after Craig's over, either Butler, McMahon, or Ioan Gruffudd.

Ah, yes, I forgot Gruffudd... he's the right age too. I'm not too keen on him, but he'd fit the mold pretty well, which is what they'd need after a Casino Royale, or later, disaster scenario.
I've never been keen on Butler, but I guess he'd be a better fit after Craig (i.e. not classically handsome, but kinda looks the part).

When you see that strong character like Batman, can't even make it a regular sucessfull screen outing when actors keep changing, you should worry for Bond.
It's not Tarzan (as Brocolli so famously said) where you can change actor every year or so and still make the big bucks. Because who would go to see a Tarzan film nowadays ?
I say Eon did the wrong thing, and Sony insiders were right, they should have gotten a 24-29 years old actor, and sign him with option for six sequels, one every two/three years, to make it BIG again.
The only reason the Broz movies did good business wasn't due to the quality of the movies, but because Broz is a great media darling, and the promotion was efficient. So, they did not make that much profit, but not because of Sony or Broz fault. Because of EON, who are always afraid to break new grounds.

The only one I like about any of these is Gerard Butler, but I'm still not sure he could be James Bond. Just really not Cavill. He looks like a true friend of Dorothy. And Julian McMahon is really cheesy, Brosnan style. I'm hoping it'll be someone we haven't thought of yet.
I thought you didn't like Scots...

I'm already lying on the floor drunk for your informationComon Crashdrive, let's get this party started!

To be honest I'm just glad we have a new Bond and I really can't be bothered at the moment pondering who will replace him. I'm just too darn curious how Dan will do. It probably all depends on the success of the new Bond formula (Jack Ryan meets Jason Bourne based on the script review). If Casino Royale fails and audiences demand a back-to-basics routine, I guess it's back to drawing board. But if Craig can make the new formula work, I wouldn't mind seeing Rupert Penry Jones (Match Point) replacing him.

Through the 90's I wanted Ralph Fiennes. But I like that Craig is 37, which puts him right at the age of the Bond of the Fleming books.
Jude Law might make a good one after Craig. I liked his look in AI.

Couldn't have put it better myself.I know Athena and Dave weren't keen on his screen tests, but on the basis EON have looked at Cavill when he was so young with such interest, and provided his career doesn't either implode or explode, I'd say Henry Cavill is the Bond in waiting in 8ish years that Brozza was for Dalton.
I think Craig will do more than three films (there's probably an option for a fourth). Especially if Bond 22 is already in the works with a screenplay and all. I think we're going back to the 2 year cycle, at least. So, if commerically successful, DC may be around for a bit.

Looking at his picture I'd love Penry Jones to replace Craig. He looks a lot like him and I think he's a terrific actor.

I'm not so sure about him, personally. While very solid in Spooks, he didn't jump out to me as a Bond.

Is it me or does he look a bit...not real?
I thought it was a video game character at first.
