Other sources have mentioned that the producers are preparing to make CASINO ROYALE the most faithful adaptation of Fleming's novel since 1969's ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE.'

Does it sound like it might be the most faithful from what has just been described?

Excellent point, spynovelfan.

An article further down the same page is headlined 'Brosnan Again Opens His Scathing Orifice'.

Yeah, let's please consider the source on these rumors.

If this does come to pass, I wonder how much focus Cavill will receive and if Brosnan will be pushed aside in his own film. "Out with the old, in with the new and all that sort of rot."

Given that Craig tends to look older than Brosnan now, I guess his 2006 Le Chiffre would look a bit like this:

I think that's a bit unfair. I reckon he'll look a bit younger than that - and they'll put in a nod to other villains Bond has faced to spice it up a bit.

Sorry, but I don't believe it for a minute, sure it sounds amazingly cool, but it contradicts everything that has been reported so far by reliable sources, I'm not even convinced Pierce Brosnan will be back... It would be great if he did though...

It doesn't make sense. The female actress wouldn't be played by two actresses but Bond would?

Also, Brosnan already has played a version of Bnd active in 1987. The opening of GOLDENEYE is set in the Soviet Union.

(Spynovelfan taps his feet as suddenly a wave of people enter the thread saying they saw through it all along, they never believed it for a moment, of course it's a hoax, how could anyone possibly think otherwise, etc.)

They say Q is back, but this contradicts what Haggis recently said about there being no gadgets.

Also, who will play the aged Vesper in the current day?

Eh, I don't buy it.

This just in: Ian Fleming's character James Bond is stalking the actors currently under consideration to play him in CASINO ROYALE and killing them off one by one. Someone at Pinewood told me. Oh, and apparently Dench *will* be M.

Any takers?

Another thing I find hard to believe about this news is: why would Martin Campbell like to rehash Goldenenye

Casino Royale sounds like it's going to be the best James Bond film ever! :) But will Daniel Craig play both versions of Le Chiffre?

No, Gary Coleman will be playing the young Le Chiffre, with Dakota Fanning as young Vesper.

Now is the time for my vision for Casino Royale. Get rid of Martin Campbell. Bring in Peter Chelsom. There we get Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez and Stanley Tucci for Bond, Vesper and Le Chiffre. And then film it on another world. :) :) :)

I really like this premise. It's a shame it probably isn't true, but it has a lot going for it - Brosnan gets his swansong; the film is graced by Craig's acting talent; Miller's rep as a good actress is growing and she also brings publicity for other reasons; we get to see first-hand Cavill's potential as a future 007, provided he gets a decent amount of screen time.

Craig and Miller can be easily aged up, assuming their characters make it to the latter stages, so there would be no need for different actors to play older versions. Brosnan cannot so easily be aged down, hence the need for two Bonds.

So does this mean Vesper will be 50-odd years old like Pierce for the majority of the film? Like THAT would ever happen in a Bond film.

And if you want to see Sienna with Vesper-like dark hair (like she's a natural blonde!) then check these out. She looks like Kate Beckinsale when her hair is dyed dark:

This has already been thought up before. A long time ago people were saying this would be like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Initially I thought this was an ok idea, but truth be told I don't really like it all that much for in the long run. Bond does not age. Otherwise you gotta make this a partial period piece and that doesn't make any [censored]ing sense. So Cavil is Bond at 28. Considering Bond is supposed to be late 30's - Brosnan's case at best early 40s, that means this period takes place in the early 1990s maybe 1980s. How do you then explain Dr. No - lets say A View to a Kill? How do you explain Bond-22? Will Cavill continue on - forever stuck in the late 80s/early 90s? Will Bond be a new guy totally?

That said, considering all the rumors and reports, this outcome is pretty likely. It actually makes sense in that respect. Take all the rumors into account (even guys like Ewan - older version of Le Chiffre possibly).

If they're going to go the young Bond route, I guess I'd rather take this than Bond-22 being a Rookie+1 adventure. Not a bad idea, I've seen/heard worse. I'd just like to know how it all plays out after this film.

I've seen worse ideas. At least there would be hope that the changing of the guard is finally occurring. Cavill is fine by me.

With the exception of Brosnan, this would be a stellar cast if it actually happens. I don't believe that it will, but if it does, hopefully they feature a lot of Cavill's Bond.

I still think that Cavill is a bit too young, but he is the best option for a younger Bond if they feel that they have to feature one in the film.

I would really love the concept if it were to be true, but it's also a little hard to believe. But yeah, I wish it was true, it would be a really cool break from the formula and everybody gets what they want. They who want a new Bond gets Cavill and they who wants to keep Brosnan gets that!

But Craig as Le Chiffre? Don't know if he really looks right for that role!?

I mentioned this scenario in another thread, i think its probably the only way to re boot the series. I can't see Brosnan as the older bond though, more likely Craig and have Cavill as the young Bond.

I do like the idea of flashbacks, that consist of a 28 year old Bond. Very nice and very different.
