Excellent post bryonalston. :)

It would be very cool to have a realistic approach towards a realistic Bond. :)

I would have prefered an announcement about James Bond #6...

Who owns Fiat now?

(BTW, my first car ever was a 1980 Fiat Spider 2000)

View Post

The "Fiat Group". They own a ton of car companies such as Ferrari, Maserati (also another contender in my speculation), and Alfa Romeo. Chances are if it has 4 wheels and it's made in Italy, it's owned by Fiat.

Hey, remember THIS STORY? Seeing as it nailed the South African location, this was certainly more than a rumour. Could the Panda have stolen the "Range Stormers" part in the film? Interesteing.

When people say that Bond should take a page out of Bourne's playbook, I don't think this is exactly what they meant.

I think I know how they'll use this car, though. Bond finall meets James Bond Jr. and he has to use this car to take him to soccer practice or something. :)

Seriously, though, I hope they don't use this for the car chase that is in the book. I'd rather see the Aston Martin in that chase rather than an SUV.

That car isn't realistic at all. Maybe for a soccer mom..

Bond needs an sports car, or a luxury car. Period.

This isn't Bond's car. What's all the fuss about?

But Bond fans need not worry that 007 is trading in his Aston Martin for a Fiat. It's been confirmed that James Bond will be driving Aston Martin's new V8 Vantage in Casino Royale.

I actually was never a fan of the Fiat automobiles. The Panda looks convenient, especially for the terrain in South Africa, make a perfect sporty car.

It's funny that people think the Fiat Panda has taken the Aston Martin V8 Vantage's place as James Bond's car in Casino Royale. :)

There's no such production car as a 'Range Stormer'- it was a one-off concept car. The nearest thing is a Range Rover Sport.

And, while I don't doubt that this Fiat will just be in background, it does sit a little oddly with the Ford deal which saw only Ford Group cars in Die Another Day (even the Ice Palace car park featured nothing but Ford group cars). Is this deal over? How do Ford feel about a Fiat in Casino?

Doesn't a Porsche get wrecked in the pre-credits? Seem to remember Ferrari or Lamborghini (or both) dropping out the 'plane at the "thrilling climax". I think it may be true that the Ford products tend to survive, save a broken windscreen... although that Jaguar's probably a goner.

As for this story, it may or may not be true (and if not true, still confirms Bond films as a going concern if people are prepared to market their grotty little hatchbacks by reference to Bond); even if true, might it be like TWINE where there seems to be Ford Escorts knocking about all over the place?

Great news!!! Think of it. Rogue agent 007's first car: Fiat Panda :)
And at the end they gave him the Aston mARTİN.
Why would they give a new 007 Aston Martin? A cheaper car for a new 007 :)

Yes, of course! I knew there was an exception that proved the rule! I suppose Ford supplied all of the extraneous and action vehicles, but those in the pre-credits were more set dressing than anything- no-one even drove them.

Of course, there's a Ford GT40 in amongst those too :) .

I see how this could be Bonds car. Bond gets the AM Vanish from DAD and he parks it in front of the enemy's hidout and makes it invisible. Only when he comes back he can't find it cuz it's still invisible so he has to take another car and the only other car is the Fiat Panda.

You know, I might be crazy, but I would rather see Bond driving this car that that Aston Martin Vantage. He is going to South Africa, so Q gives him this completely tricked out bad-:) little car the flies along at 200MPH. We expect to see guns flip from behind the headlights of a Aston because, well, we've seen it a zillion times. *yawn* But Bond pulling up in this thing and people chuckling...but then later on we reveal a bazooka behind the grill and a rocket for an engine...the thing can somersault through a house and roll down a mountain and still drive away without a dent...that's Bond!

View Post

Oddly enough, I can't recall where that scene occurs in the novel. :)

Anyway, I'll wager my pocket money on *'s idea as well.

If there is any truth to the rumor that CR is all about young James Bond's first assignment, I find it very hard to believe MI6 will hand him the keys of the Aston Martin... he's got to earn that one! I therefore wouldn't be surprised if the Fiat Panda is indeed going to be Bond's ride in this film.

I suppose. It's been a while since I've read CR, but are the Bulgarian's the ones who have the camera disguised as a bomb, or the people who have tapped Bond's hotel room from the room below him?

I can see a car chase like the one in The Italian Job, with the Mini Coopers in the city. Could be quite cool, couldn't it?

And the FYEO chase was great, so you'd never know...

But the FYEO chase wasn't written by Beavis and Weed and it was also choreographed by the great Remy Julienne, so I wouldn't get my hopes up (even though the FYEO chase was fantastic.)

You're right the Bulgar bombers were those guys with the cameras, the ones who bugged Bond's room were the Muntzes; they, I beleive, worked with Le Chiffre. Of course, anyone can correct me if I'm (more than likely) wrong.

RE - FYEO chase: I agree, an great chase from a great film.
