O...kay. Can someone say FYEO car chase #2 anyone? (Just because CR is supposed to be a down to earth Bond movie doesn't mean they should copy successful elements from that movie.)

Fiat Panda or Fiat Punto?

The Panda is seemingly for families and the Punto is used for races (that's what I know anyways).

We've have owned in the past a Fiat Panda and a Lada. :)

They're great cars from going from A to B, but to go from A to Z you can forget it. :)

They're very economical cars, but should James Bond even be seen dead in one of these?. :)

I doubt that this is going to be James Bond's official car in CR. Isn't EoN under a 3 picture contract with Aston-Martin? This could be Rene Mathis' car, like how Jack Wade had his little car in St. Petersburg.

Does no one ever read our stories? We're not saying this is Bond's car. We say the Vantage is confirmed and obviously this is a secondary character's car.

Or maybe as bryonalston says, the Vantage get blow to bits and Bond has to drive this? I wouldn't mind that -- just stay off the ice lakes. :)

Sorry zen. You're very correct. I "just dropped in for a quick bite" and didn't read the article.

Still busy over at IBUnique with customers. :)

Still. If Bond ever had to drive one of these cars over a long distance, he would certainly save MI6 some money. :)

Cheers,

Ian

You know, I might be crazy, but I would rather see Bond driving this car that that Aston Martin Vantage. He is going to South Africa, so Q gives him this completely tricked out bad-:) little car the flies along at 200MPH. We expect to see guns flip from behind the headlights of a Aston because, well, we've seen it a zillion times. *yawn* But Bond pulling up in this thing and people chuckling...but then later on we reveal a bazooka behind the grill and a rocket for an engine...the thing can somersault through a house and roll down a mountain and still drive away without a dent...that's Bond!

Oh, but maybe that would be too "Roger Moore" and too much fun. We now take our Bond soooo seriously. Yes, we do.

But if I heard they had dumped the Aston for a Panda

I would really like to see him drive around in a vintage model
(not with a vintage model!)

We don't see the classics anymore nowadays apart from vintage motor shows.
(lolz, it's like wanting to see Marilyn Monroe over again!)

I can see one (or fifty) of those chasing after Bond. It's gonna be painted black anyways, doesn't really matter what it looks like. Funny things like this get leaked, but not who the frick is playing Bond.

Exhausted in Die Another Day when Bond requests a "fast car" and gets a 1950's Ford Fairlane.

I'm gonna say that if it is in the film it'll have a very very minor role. The entire Brosnan-era has proved to me that unless a car is there for the enemy to get its :) kicked in (and I'm not talking Zao - Jaguar = Ford), the car is going to be one by whomever has the big deal. Die Another Day = all Fords; GE, TND, and TWINE = for the most part all BMWs with a couple exceptions such as the Ferrari and the Aston Martin DB5.

I am somewhat skeptical if Aston Martin (Ford) still has the next deal. I mean yeah, I remember Fisker saying that it would be, but that was back in early 2004 and I haven't heard anything since. With the film being released in late 2006, is this still the case? Suppose it's not and this Fiat surely is in, you might be able to surmise that Bond's next car might be a Ferrari (owned by Fiat). Speculation is fun and yet stupid. Very very stupid. :)

Hey zen. now, that would be an awesome idea.

And as you say, if "he is going to South Africa" this is indeed the car he should be driving.

I would love to see some Mooresque fun-and-games with this car trooping along defiantly.

Are you sure you don't want to write Casino Royale?. :)

Good post as usual my man. :)

Cheers,

Come to think of it, I would rather see Bond in a practical car instead of some tricked out Aston-Martin. I can imagine the Q/R scene right now (Bond getting all of his gadgets, then asking R for his car, expecting an Aston-Martin, and sees this tiny little little car.
Bond: "You MUST be joking..."
R: "Consider this payback for all of the cars that are resting in pieces because of you. Now despite how it looks, this practical car has all of the usual refinements...blah, blah, blah."

I think that scene would be hilarious to watch. It's about time Bond is given a practical car.
