Hearts of Darkness (a terrific movie about the making of Apocalypse Now- I'd urge everyone who loves film to see it!), Pierrepoint, about the last hangman in Britain, and the Christmas classic Cruising.

I definitely want to see this, but I'll hold off for the time being.

The title of the 2006 release of Apocalypse Now - The Complete Dossier is a bit of a joke as Hearts of Darkness wasn't included. Call me Cynical Sid but it's just a moneymaking exercise to release HoD seperately, and I'll bet there'll be a "Definitive Ultimate Edition" released soon that'll combine the two. THEN I'll buy it!

-Blade Runner: The Final Cut (the five-disc set in the briefcase); bought it for myself before Christmas, which was somewhat selfish of me.
-Schindler's List (the plexiglass giftset) - nice, cheery, Christmasy fillum.

- Galactica 1980 - even though ABC managed to kill the series during it's original run by moving it to the 7:00 pm Sunday time slot & forcing the introduction of the Super Scouts to make the show more "family friendly" (blah), there are several excellent episodes including The Return of Starbuck which is amongst the best of the series.

- Rush Hour 3

- Blade Runner - the 5 disc edition on Blu-ray (this was a Christmas gift :D ).

Little Britain Abroad

The main 2 episodes are not as good as the previous 3 series but the documentary on their tour here in Australia and the excellent Comic Relief live sketches with an audience of stars (baring all in one case!!) are worth the purchase.

Just finished watching The Living and the Dead, a indie British 'horror' film from 2007. The horror is rooted in the fact that there are two very sick people (one mentally and one physically) that are locked in together and try to care for each other. The DVD cover had a slew of superlative adjectives raving about the film, including the statement "The best movie I have ever seen" from someone I'd never heard of and would have little respect for now. The plot according to the box reads

A descent into Hell is triggered when "Ex-Lord" Donald Brocklebank finds that he must leave Longleigh House for London to find a way to pay for the medical treatments for his wife Nancy. Alone, his over-protected, delusional, adult son, James, fancies himself in charge of the manor house with his terminally ill mother, and barricades the two of them into the house for a series of ever more panicked home treatments, mistakenly protecting her from the arrival of Nurse Mary and any outside help.

It has to be one of the most disturbing films I've seen in a long, long time; absolutely made me squirm in a visceral way and I still have to scratch my head.
