Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy with Alec Guinness. Seven quid via ebay.

Six hours of top notch moodiness. Now on the lookout for Smiley's People.

I bought a film called Black Book on Friday. It's a war film but I haven't got around to watching it yet. It has good reviews though. Paul Verhooven (sp?) is the director.

I've never seen the original Mummy. I also want to see the 1931 version of Dracula.

You should check out the legacy collections from universial then. They have box sets for Dracula,Frankenstein,The Mummy,The Wolfman,The Invisible Man,and The Creature From The Black Lagoon. All the sets have five films a piece except for the Wolf Man set that has 4 and the Creature set which has 3.It's a great way for people who want to see these films to be able to see them in a collection and at a good price.

DVDs cost under a quid each here in China, so I'm well supplied. The last one I saw that moved me was 'Longford', about the Myra Hyndley-Lord Longford relationship. The scenes with an Brady are far more disturbing than anything conjured up by Anthony Hopkins. 'Deliver us from Evil' was the last one I remember that made me involuntarily drop my jaw.

Received in the mail today....

BANACEK - The First Season
SONNY CHIBA ACTION PACK - Virus, Golgo13, Bullet Train

Banacek is a great 70's TV series that was inspired by the original "The Thomas Crown Affair", and even though it does NOT contain the pilot (TV movie) I've been reliably informed that it will be included on the 2nd season DVD set.

I got this particular Chiba set for Virus because its the full version! I mistakenly bought this version which turned out to be the international (ie: American-centric) version with most of the Japanese scenes cut out, thus making it quite hard to follow.

BORAT. A reasonable haul of deleted scenes and bonus material that will be every bit as funny as the main feature for Borat fans (who'll probably consider - I know I did - that just the sight of Azamat [is there a case for saying he steals the movie?] as David Hasselhoff in a spoof of the BAYWATCH opening credits makes this DVD worth buying for its extras), but a menu that's bizarrely difficult to navigate, and one gets the feeling that other good stuff is being held back for a special edition, which will hopefully boast Baron Cohen commentating in character as the crazy Kazakh (a mindmeltingly inspired blend of influences like Clouseau, Austin Powers, Manuel, Michael Moore and possibly even William Brown), a la the commentary by Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer on the THIS IS SPINAL TAP SE that renders that film even more hilarious. Also, it would be nice to see the Jonathan Ross interview on a future release.

Still, this is far from a bare-bones affair and won't leave you feeling shortchanged. I liiiike!

Yes, I liiiiike this movie very much. Especially when I am a foreign student in the US and A, greatest country in the world! :D

My latest:
* You've Got Mail
* The Phantom of the Opera
* Pokemon Heroes the Movie (I watch Pokemon when I'm thoroughly fed up of academics, the world, and just about everything. It gets me back on track easily, odd as it sounds)
* The Devil Wears Prada (because I swear UPenn is EXACTLY like that place!)
* Accepted (wonderful when you're in college)
