I have a strange feeling, when the official announcement comes at the press conference ...when Michael or Babs says: "Please meet the new James Bond", and the curtain rises -- it will be... Clive Owen.

MM you are just saying this because your man Luds is so insistent that Owen was offered the role--and that's a mighty thin basis.

I do not take Luds predictions as gospel. No, it's just a feeling - but I guess it's partly rooted in what Owen said in the famous video interview at the Sin City premiere -- and the way he reacts in recent interviews:

"And yes, there was no way that we could finish without mentioning the 007 question hanging over Clive

I would try to think of other possibilities that may be hidden in that interview, but I've grown tired of "Owenology" :)

AICN posted that Miramax has now OFFICIALLY stated that Sin City 2 will be released in the Summer 2006.  If Clive Owen is in this(and I think he will be since sequels mostly always bring back the main actors) then with Inside Man and Children of Men this would FINISH Clive as a Bond candidate. He will be working through Bond filming. This reaffirms what Clive said when he said he had 3 films lined up and is all booked out with regards to Bond.  It looks to me as if Clive was never asked to be Bond by Eon as this thread indicates.  He had an interest but no offer so he took other film offers with the very probable acceptance of Sin City 2 being the final nail in the coffin of his Bond hopes. For whatever reason Eon never gave him an offer. Clive Owen as Bond #6 RIP.

if i remeber correctly, sin city took a VERY short ammount of time to film and produce. Almost as short as Phone Booth took
..so maybe ...i dunno..the sequel might also be quickly filmed.

If there is any shooting conflict, my guess is he'll drop Sin City 2 and do Bond.

What exactly do you mean by that?
Until we have an official announcement, all we can do is speculate.

Despite what I've said before, I'm starting to believe that he really wants it, also. I think it might be a bit late for him, however.

Okay so the wife an I watched Closer this weekend. As far as the movie went it was pretty dumb and boring, but Clive Owen stood out, until now I didn't think he could pull off James Bond, now I think he'd do just fine, he was able to suave and charming one minute and tough-:) prick the next. He's tall, rugged looking and made Jude Law look like a fourteen year old kid in comparision.
Previously I have been in the Julian McMahon camp, but after watching Owen's performance, I'd be happy with either of them.

MM i'm not against speculation just the Owenology of reading into Clive's ambiguous interviews as a sure sign he's Bond. :) It's not regular speculation--it's more like reading tea leaves. You can easily speculate he may be Bond--anything's possible at this point--BUT the Owenology of reading into his interviews is more wishful thinking than anything else IMO. A rather thin basis for believing Clive is the next Bond--Don't you think? I mean as I said it's in the realm of possibility he may be BUT just interviews prove or indicate nothing for sure. :)

What I wrote was: "Either he's got the job, and his lips are sealed until the official announcement, or -at the very least- he believes he's in the running, and is keeping his options open." Not much 'tea leves reading' in that, is there?
I wish you would stop throwing that "Owenology"-label at me and others, just because we entertain a bit of speculation. It's becoming rather tiresome.
