"I'm about as interested in another Indiana Jones movie as Harrison Ford is in rising above mediocrity, but that doesn't stop the principals from mentioning their vaporsequel at every possible opportunity.
George Lucas is the latest info-blower, chatting up the film's status while ignoring any semblance of irony and taking a shot at bombastic summer action fare like Mission: Impossible 3. "I think Tom Cruise proved that people are getting bored with that kind of stuff," Lucas said Monday, somehow completely forgetting that he just made three similarly turgid examples of flashy trash. "What they want to see is something different. And 'Indiana Jones,' if nothing else, is always different."
He's right, too -- the franchise has been pretty different, running the gamut from one of the greatest adventure movies ever made to a piece of banal garbage that reduced the entire supporting cast to comic relief. But they're forging forth with a fourth, regardless of necessity: "I think it'll be a great film, but it's completely different," Lucas assures those seventeen prequel fans who still believe anything he says. "It's still got a lot of action, and it's still very funny. I think it works like crazy." Personally, the only possible way a fourth movie could interest me is if an adult Short Round is the villain (along with his trained kung-fu army), seeking vengeance for being left for dead on some previous tomb raid with Dr. Jones."
*I couldn't agree more.

Who knows, but i'm one of the "seventeen people" that are eager to wait and see what INDY 4 will deliver.
Count me in as well.

I've heard the film referred to by a few different titles, one such being, Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth, so I'm not entirely sure which it actually is.According to Wikipedia, INDIANA JONES AND THE RAVAGES OF TIME is the working title for Indy IV. IMDB also has quite a few threads on it - apparently it has been reported in a number of sources in the media. Anybody know anything else about this?

That one was rumored a long time ago, but there was nothing to it.I've heard the film referred to by a few different titles, one such being, Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth, so I'm not entirely sure which it actually is.

INDIANA JONES AND THE RAVAGES OF TIME has been reported recently by outlets like Yahoo! news, and other things as the actual working title of this film as it gets ready to roll into full-on production.

Not horrible, but it would be interesting to know what connection/relation it has to the plot of the film.

Well it's possible it has nothing to do with the film proper - rather that it's just a temporary title that is poking jabs at how long INDY IV has been in development. Or perhaps it really does have to do with the story. Who knows? Not horrible, but it would be interesting to know what connection/relation it has to the plot of the film.

Who knows?
A pretty appropriate tagline for the film given its status over these recent years.

The Ravages of Time sounds like more of a jab than FoY. At least FoY implies that even though Ford is old in age, he can still be young. RoT just makes it sound like Ford is old.I get the impression that the supposed Fountain of Youth title is nothing more than a jab at Harrison Ford.

Yup. And the movie is apparently about an older Indiana Jones, for what it's worth, set years beyond the original trilogy."just makes it sounds like Ford is old. "

Yawn.Wake me when Harrison Ford grows a personality and or makes a decent non-Raiders/Empire/Blade Runner movie.

But on INDY IV, I'm not really impressed. But what has me intrigued is Spielberg returning. Spielberg's such a different director now than he was when he was doing the original trilogy that I wonder what this fourth installment will be like.
I think it's a mistake to make it, but I do hav eto say that when a teaser trailer shows up and the John Williams music is pumping in the background, nostalgia will get me excited enough to see it.

Heard it all before, though, and the prospect of a fourth Indy flick seems less thrilling with each passing year. And while I like Connery (obviously), I don't want to see him paired with Ford again. Instead of DUMB AND DUMBER, it'd be OLD AND OLDER, and would just be ridiculous.
(Rich coming from CBn's biggest cheerleader of ROCKY VI and RAMBO IV, I know.

I wonder if things will fall through due to more setbacks, or whether it will actually take off.Game on! (See link here.)
Actually, ROCKY BALBOA was one of the few things that made me think, "Hey, maybe an older Indiana Jones wouldn't be so bad if they could really pull it off." But the difference is that the Rocky franchise needed a send-off. As much as I think LAST CRUSADE is so-so, it ended the franchise on a decent enough note that there's no need for a "right" conclusion.(Rich coming from CBn's biggest cheerleader of ROCKY VI and RAMBO IV, I know.
)
We'll see. Odds are, at the sight of the first trailer with the main theme roaring in the background, I'll change my tune and be as giddy a fanboy as can be.

I can easily see its release getting pushed back to 2009, so that they can take advantage of the whole "twenty years since the last one" marketing hype (similarly, ROCKY BALBOA's original release date of February 2007 was brought forward so that it could hit screens a nice round thirty years since the first ROCKY).
Not that they need any excuses to postpone this flick yet again, of course.

*Yawn*
There's plenty good enough "character" stuff in the other films, especially the first, which tells us all we need to know about Indy's character in wonderful little throwaway moments like his weary roll of the eyes and shooting of the swordsman. We don't need to be beaten over the head with whatever pretentious guff Lucas has in store for this picture, which will doubtless be sugared up and sentimentalised to the nth degree by Spielberg. Why do I get a bad feeling whenever I read filmmakers banging on about "character"?
