STAR of TV's Nip/Tuck, Julian McMahon, yesterday revealed he is on a shortlist of two to become the next James Bond.
The 36-year-old Australian, who plays serial womaniser Dr Christian Troy in the show, said: "I'm a big James Bond fan.
"I met the producers for a final audition. They told me to expect a decision in a couple of months and they said it was between me and one other person.
"It's going to be a very nervous wait."
The other person in the frame is believed to be British actor Clive Owen.
McMahon, who used to be married to Dannii Minogue, was first linked to the role last year.
If he gets it, he will be the second Australian to take the role of 007, who has also been played by English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish actors.
Meanwhile, Bond director Martin Campbell said of new movie Casino Royale "it will be a grittier, tougher and more realistic movie".
It was originally a 1960s spoof with David Niven.

Clive Owen and Daniel Craig are fighting it out to become the sixth James Bond, insiders say.Executives for the next movie will choose either Owen or Craig to succeed Pierce Brosnan.Brosnan, 51, will not appear in the next film, Casino Royale, after he failed to agree terms.
Owen, 40, and Craig, 37, are said to have beaten off competition from early contenders such as Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.
Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell were also in the running, before Owen and Craig captured the imaginations of the 007 producers.
A Bond source told The Sun: "They're both good looking and charming, but also have that dangerous edge.
"We feel they are the real deal. The million-dollar question is which one will get it.
"There have been lots of potential candidates but these two really fit the bill."
Meanwhile Nip/Tuck hunk Julian McMahon claimed he was also on the shortlist.
The 26-year-old Australian, who plays serial womaniser Dr Christian Troy in the TV show said: "I met the producers for a final audition. They told me to expect a decision in a couple of months and they said it was between me and one other person.
"It's going to be a very nervous wait."

I think he's a brilliant actor, simply based on his performance in 'The Road To Perdition', but I'm not so sure he's Bond material.

Ahhhhh...this is Daniel Craig:

I think he could do it. Here's a still from Perdition - looks like a back-to-Fleming Casino Royale to me,

And yes, I have seen 'Marnie'.

This is truly sad news indeed. This is the same guy who had a part in the aussie soap "Home & away" and was truly an awful actor. I can only hope & pray that EON have purposly gone this route so it doesn't seem blatantly obvious that the other guy (or, indeed anyone else) might have the job already.
What on earth are you thinking EON? please don't hire this guy, he'll be your worst Bond yet!

Right you are. The show is quite popular and filming on the third season should begin anytime now for a summer return. His schedule likely won't allow him to play Bond due to his commitments here, and if the current Broccolis are anything like Cubby, they won't allow a guy on a TV series to be Bond anyway. For McMahon to be Bond his contract for Nip/Tuck must be up for renewal or the show is getting cancelled. Isn't the show quite popular though.
I like the guy. He displays a lot of Bond characteristics on Nip/Tuck. He'd be much more convincing than Orlando Bloom, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor or Dominic West.
DLibraSnow, his appearance on Charmed is just set to be either a cameo or a one-episode appearance. He isn't rejoining the cast due to the success of Nip/Tuck.
Strange nobody has mentioned this Daniel Craig before. Welcome to the party, I guess. Besides, he can't necessarily be worse than some of the other things we've heard.

Unfortunately, that show has yet to hit my airwaves, but I did manage to catch a quick glimps of an ep while in Sydney recently. All I got to see though was his offsider "enjoying himself agressively" with a blowup doll.Right you are. In a desperate attempt to be in the next James Bond movie, here is an exclusive picture of Julian auditioning as the next Bond Girl.
Julian [aka/Pussy GoodGod]: Oh James. James! Make love to me. Handle my cubes like a monkey handles coconuts. Come to your Prancy Fancy Bear!
James Bond [off screen]: Not for God or country.

Sorry. I can't get past his stint on "Charmed," even though I've seen Nip & Tuck once. And it was an episode I was embarrassed to watch.

Here's a pic of Kerr Smith from Dawson's Creek and Final Destination:

They generally look quite alike, especially the high forehead. Julian McMahon looks like what Kerr Smith will evolve into when he's older.
