The beginning of the episode kinda reminded me of that post-Superbowl show from Season 2.
it was much better than the last season and I guess we know the answer to if Irina will return. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I really enjoyed the two-hour season premiere. I started watching about 9:30 so I could fast forward through all the commercials, and the show just flew by - perhaps the best two hours of television since I don't know when.

We may see her in a flashback though, that'd be cool. |

This was an effective way of dealing with the issue of an actress unwilling to return and it made the twist at the end of the last season more effective. I think the fact that Irina tried to have Sydney killed will be a major plot point this season. |

I couldn't agree more about making the exit of her character into a very well-designed plot point. I can't wait to find out more, and as you said, seeing how this turns into a major point this season - leaving the door open to see her once more perhaps in a flashback of some kind. |

Doesn't it strike you as earily similar to SG-6? Am I the only one who doesn't trust Sloane?! |
One thing that had me worried was the apparent disappearance of Marshall/
Until the second hour he was nowhere to be seen and he's one of my favorite characters, just because he's so damn funny |

First off there's Rick Yune...paying a bag of diamonds.. classic!
Jack is awesome as always, Dixon is back to being a badass field agent again...oh and Sloane had conned his way into being in charge! God, I love that man. |
I don't mind the sister actually...more eye candy for me...
As for Sydney...she makes the show into a soap opera...she needs to stop crying and blaming Jack and Sloane for everything and wear little nighties much more often.

There's a ton of negative ranting over at the ABC.com Alias message board. Seems a lot of hardcore fans felt let down by the Premiere. I for one found it to be not quite the glorious return I'd hoped for (although expectations were very high, perhaps unrealistically so). But I enjoyed it thoroughly. Good to have Syd back.
Understandable, considering the past seasons, but I found this one to be very satisfying.

Regardless of the rating Alias has by far had the best choreographed fight scenes I have ever seen in hour long drama. They also put their actors in the thick of the fights and that always works. Some of the best hand to hand conbat was in this episode I think.
It was immediately clear the intentions that they are planning on making this season as close to the first as possible which IMHO is the perfect solution. We'll just have to see where everything goes, but it was nice to see Rick Yune on the show.
I'm already hocked for this season. All we need now is a guest apperance by Pierce.

It was fantastic, couldn't ask for a better season opener. The action was great and interesting storyline. The only thing that I didn't like, which has nothing to do with the rest the show, was what the did with the titles, the original was a thousand times better, now its just a mix of clips from past shows and the them sounded weird. But all in all a fantastic episode and can't wait to see what comes next.
I agree, the new titles did throw me a bit, as did the remix of the title track. They should have stuck with the old version IMO.

I've never seen Alias. How are the production values(budjet)? Do they really film abroad?

I missed it.

No they don't Tarl. But the production is so well done, that I was under the impression they were filming abroad until halfway through the first season, when I read a magazine article about their "location" filming procedures (prior to that, I was amazed that their production budget must have been astronomical). They do miracles with mattes, and clever filming techniques, as well as using some excellent Southern California locations that don't look like Southern California locations.
You really ought to rent the Alias Season One dvd. You won't be disappointed.

Didn't that whole thing at the villa just kind of drag opposed to being suspenseful. Shouldn't Sydney have just wailed on that guy? Of course, that would have altered the climax, but I actually predicted what would happen anyway. Ah, well. Still good stuff.

I thought last night's episode was something of a come-down from the all-out season opener. That's to be expected, I guess. But it just seemed kind of routine aside from the opening. I always enjoy when Marshall goes out into the field.

It was a letdown, the previews made it look better than it turned out to be. I was waiting for Sydney to just attack him there and then as well. I also was a little dissapointed to see the quick way of getting through the "issue" between Sydney's sister and Jack.

For some reason she doesn't care to keep track of what she's on and when it will air, which makes no sense seeing as she could make a reel. Whack. So unfortunately I don't know when... but I know it's this next season. I'm guessing Ms. Alias will be in Austria. No way! Let me know when it's coming upMy friend Carrie plays an Austrian Cocktail Waitress in one of the episodes of Season 4.
I remember when she was a guest on Jay Leno too.

Ah yes, Leno... I still have those screen caps somewhere... to bad it couldn't have been make into a little quicktime video.

That is true DLibra, I guess it just might have been cool to see that problem of sorts continue on for a few new episodes, unless (and he probably does), the creator has far more interesting things in mind, which is great in that case.
Oh, I have complete faith in JJ Abrams....I just wish I didn't have to wait a whole week for a new episode (it's so much easier when you get a season set on DVD because then you can just click on the next episode).
