My name is Eric Newsom, and I do believe that I will be attempting a Bond story. I cannot be certain of the length, because I haven't started writing. May I go back and edit this post when I have a greater idea of the content of my story?

Most definitely! Glad to have you join up.

Count me in for a less than 10,000 short story (2,000 words to be exact).
Looking forward to reading everyone's stories!

My contribution may well be fairly 'alternative', but what can you expect from heathen.
Cheers,

So count him in. It'll be about 15-20 pages or so, approx. 10,000 words.
P.S. It seems he'll be logged in here as Sun Tzu, just a heads-up so you can put a name to a registration.

That's just fine, and I'm glad you've joined the forums here Zing!
Thanks for the welcome! I hope you enjoy my 007 effort: "Silverkeeper." I'm looking forward to joining in the many great threads concerning our favorite secret agent. I'm also excited to read what everyone has to offer for Bondian fan-fiction!

Might I ask, are there any 'qualifications' or other areas the judges will be focusing on as they 'judge' our entries?
Hello,
There haven't been any laid out so far. It seems they went for a fairly sound mix in picking their judges; we represent an eclectic smorgasbord being from different age groups, different Bond-related backgrounds, and different literary tastes. Quality of story, quality of craftsmanship, the ability to give fresh breath to a classic character whose stories have classic conventions; these are what I'll be weighing. Qwerty left it open on purpose, I'm sure; movie Bond, literary Bond, game Bond, comic Bond, satire Bond, just put your best cooking on the table . It should be fun to see the variety people come up with.

OK, I'll come quietly. I'll tell you what you want to know - just don't point that pen at me. Let's see...length 10,000 plus; plot hackneyed; style awful; characterisation laughable; grammar dubious; entertainment absent.
That's everything I can tell you. The title? It's in that briefcase over there.
Just flick the catch...
P.S. Well, I'll give it a go anyway. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's stories. Good luck everyone!
