You are so right Harmsway.Batman Returns. The atmosphere was dead-on, and while it isn't necessarily the comic-book Batman, Burton's vision is engrossing on its own. It also helps that I happen to love Pfeifer's magnificent Catwoman so much, that even if the rest of the movie sucked I'd like it just because of that performance.

Comic books are no longer "kid's entertainment" and that's why people react. The best comics are mature stories. It goes without saying that comics have lost much of their innocence. Batman is really not a kid's comic book any more. It's violent, extremely dark, and it's definitely not something I'd let my kids read (heck, the comic book Batman is often much more violent and/or disturbing than its film counterpart). That Batman is what the fans hold on to and consider the finest vision of the superhero (I'm one of them). So going back to camp and garishness of the kid's Batman seems like backpedaling. For those who hate not "treating a comic book character with respect", get over it. A comic book was supposed to be kid's entertainment in the first place, nothing wrong with going back to that from time to time.

I'll agree on the consensus of some mistakes Burton made, that said I still love his two films, but his "problems" are heaven compared to whatever the hell Schumacher had in mind.Burton had problems with creating coherent plots, and with concentrating too much on the villains and not enough on Batman -- problems that really came to the forefront in Batman Returns. And Schumacher, well, I won't even get into it except to say, he did not understand Batman.

I'm ambivalent to Sandy Collora. First off, I thought that Dead End was really fun and cool (though I don't think it satisfactorily made the Batman-in-tights work, at least for a full length pic). But the direction was pretty cool and I enjoyed it for what it was. World's Finest, on the other hand, was nowhere near as good, because it was ridiculously cheesy and horribly acted (I know it is a fan film after all, but the facts still remain).I can't vote, because my favorite isn't on there - Batman: Dead End, a short film directed by Sandy Collera. Either you really like it or you really hate it. Some people complain because there isn't much of a story and there are a few characters in it that kinda ruin the tone of the movie, but what's admirable about it is that: A. It shows that a Batman in tights can actually WORK; and B. It's just really well made, from a technical stand-point.
It used to be available on the internet, but I'm not so sure that it is any more. The director went on to make a "trailer" called World's Finest, about a fake movie which essentially teams Superman up with Batman. Collera brings his Batman/Bruce Wayne from Dead End back for this, and introduces a pretty decent Superman/Clark Kent, and offers a pretty impressive "fan trailer". For one thing, it has a really cool ending...

LOL!!Batman (1989) does it for me. Jack's interpretation of the Joker is spot on, (even though they screw around with the character a bit) and he's just a lot of fun to watch.

I just came across something that'll make you think even less of Collora - he goes around on imdb.com posting on the Batman: Dead End boards under the name "jacksmedullaoblongata", or something, and actually bashes people who say the slightest negative thing about his movie, even if they're still saying that there are several things about the movie that they liked. And what's worse, he doesn't say, "Hey, I'm Sandy Collora guys, and I really appreciate your input", but he goes around as a FAN, saying "Collora's work is genius/brillaint/etc/etc." Disgusting, eh?I'm ambivalent to Sandy Collora. First off, I thought that Dead End was really fun and cool (though I don't think it satisfactorily made the Batman-in-tights work, at least for a full length pic).
