Hollywood needs to know when they should leave franchises alone - whether Rambo, Rocky, Die Hard, or Indiana Jones.
Definitely. Of those franchises you mention, only ROCKY BALBOA truly interests me. The others should be left alone, and this is coming from someone who was a big fan of all of them back in the day. I'm definitely not a sequel-hater, but sometimes enough is enough.
Mind you, it seems that, nowadays, all franchises have a "second life" thanks to this "reboot" boom. Time was when a flop sequel would close the lid on things. Not any more - just wait a few years and bring on the remake. The whole reboot thing is kind of like a pension scheme for franchises.
Is anyone looking forward too seeing the fourth installment of Jurassic Park?
No.

IMO they should make another film with dinosaurs along the same lines as JP...but just don't call it JP4...it kind of limits the creativity since they have their T-Rex and Raptor quota that must be met. Even though the raptors used to be the scariest dinos in the film...

Liked the first two, the third sucked royally.
I used to like the third one alot, but a recent viewing has made it sink quite a bit compared to the first two.

What would be the excuse for going back this time? Can't they just nuke the sodding island?

I once had the misfortune of watching one of them on a flight to Japan. I think it was number 3.
Maybe it was No.2??
It started with Jeff Goldblum saying "No, don't go to that island. It starts off OK but then there's running and screaming, then more running", and when I realised it was almost sending itself up, I thought, why are they even bothering??
Now there is news about a 4th one, LOL. I can't even watch the first one anymore, doesn't interest me.

They will needs something seriously new for this to work. It's an old and dried out concept.
Search Ain't It Cool News for a review they did of a JP 4 script supposedly written by the legendary John Sayles...I believe the ideas in that script fell within the realm of "seriously new"

Yeah. Special forces dinosaurs toting machine guns, if I remember correctly (no, I'm not joking). It struck me as "seriously terrible".

That's true - Crichton's book felt more like ALIENS than it did the kiddie-fest that was Spielberg's version. I've always been disappointed in the movie versions for that reason. At this point, though, I think it's too late to do that. It's the kiddy feel I can't stand. Give me a violent and accurate portrayal of the world Crichton actually wrote about and you might get a decent film on your hands. I was only 13 when I saw the original Jurassic Park at the cinema and I went home feeling extremely let down given all the hype. Lots of CGI, no film.

Sounds like a fresh idea, at least. Still wouldn't watch it though.

I actually don't like sequels really. I liked Back to the Future 2, Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom.
But although I enjoy the originals, I have no interest in any of the instalments that followed Alien, Friday 13th, The Omen, Halloween, Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Childs Play.

I guess you don't mind sequels to Bond films though?
No, I like them!!!!
I don't think we see them as sequels to each other? It is a franchise but there is little continuity between the movies.

I must admit I'm a huge huge fan of Aliens and I love Ghostbusters 2.
