I saw AVP today. What an absolutely atrocious film and an insult to both franchises. Ugh. An absolute trainwreck of a movie with worthless characters, a terrible plot line, and horrible action. What they do with the Aliens and Predators is totally inexcusable. Worst film I've seen in a good long while.

The theatre today had the wrong listing for the movie I originally planned to see, I almost considered this one.

Glad I didn't.

Glad I didn't.

Be very glad. It's not worth the price of admission! Rent it sometime, if you're curious, but otherwise, stay away.

From all the overall feeling I get from these reviews, I don't think even a rental may be necessary.

So you didn't like it then?

Is it Quintilogy, Quintrilogy or Quinrilogy?

The director also said that as far as he's concerned it's a stand alone movie not requiring having seen the other 5 movies. The move's detractors will gladly agree with that sentiment, I bet.

If it's the turkey a lot feel it is, and I'll check it out for myself, I don't want it anywhere near/linked to the others.

I've been looking forward to this movie ever since it was announced, and I'm a huge fan of Predator; usually, I'm not swayed by reviews at all when it comes to movies, but I will admit that this time around, I'm growing rather doubtful about the quality of this movie. That being said, I do plan to get the Predator 2-disc special edition, which includes a free movie ticket for AVP, so I figure there's no harm in getting some use out of it!

This film is so bad it doesn't deserve to put near either franchise, and it doesn't really fit with either anyway. Doesn't have the balls-out action fun of Predator or the thrill and scares of Alien. Heck, it's not really scary or suspenseful on any level, and the action is never very entertaining.

I was looking forward to it as well, but as soon as I saw the opening minutes of the film my hopes sank, and then it just got worse and worse until it reached an absolutely ludicrous ending that had me snickering.

Did they use 'Predator' music and or 'Alien' music or was it an original score?

From the sounds of it, AVP is a major let-down in every way. What a tremendous disappointment.

I do still intend to see Alien Vs Predator and really judge it for myself, BC. After all, there are plenty of typically-considered "bad" movies that I love very much (although, to be honest, you're wrong on Raise The Titanic; that isn't one I particularly like...lol). The recent release of The Punisher was torn apart by critics and audiences alike, however I very much enjoyed it. Broken Lizard's Club Dread is another movie that was treated even worse by the public, however I still liked it.

You know, I saw advertising for that in the movie theatre itself. However, that was about it, I really expected to hear a little more about it.

Well, Fox is apparantly releasing an extended edition of the film later this year (the fall, I believe); even though I already sprung for the first release, I'll probably get this one to see if the additional footage makes the movie any better; the original cut was apparantly supposed to have been around/over 2 and a half hours long, which was then cut down to 1 hour and 40 minutes. I'll be very curious to see how this other version is (I hope it's released as a director's cut, or something...).

My younger brother went to see it as a last blast before heading to college. He said it was OK, but it sure didn't beat Predator 1 (of course, it being his favorite movie; he's estimated he's seen it well over a hundred times and can also recite large portions of the film). He's not into Alien, though, so I assume he rooted for the Predators.

Some films are just too short now.

I may try this one out then. Just wished more had been said or mentioned about it.

Club Dread is great but don't expect anything terribly tasteful. If you liked Super Troopers, you'll like Club Dread. Oddly enough I found that it worked betyter as a slasher film than as a comedy.

Also, the film never really had a chance at the box office. Opening your raunchy slasher comedy up against The Passion of the Christ? Good move, Fox. Nice timing. :)

LOL. Yeah, no problems then. I believe it was the same person for the both those films too.

I think the extended edition could be better. Maybe we can see then:

More gore and a R rating
Better insight in the characters
And some more

That might be a slight improvement, but it still wouldn't make this mess of a movie good.

I saw it yesterday in San Diego Ca., of course is not in league with any of the Alien Films, but is quite entertaining and worth seeing, a cool ride, great fights between the Aliens and Predators, and good visuals, but true the characters are not very interesting, and the leading woman is nowhere near Ripley, not by a long shot!
But still, if you

I like Ressurection too, it's got some nice effects and also features one of the funniest reactions to an awful death I've ever seen (Dan Hedaya's death scene).

I don't expect a masterpiece...I don't even expect it to be as good as either the Alien or Predator movies. I'm simply going to see it for the novelty factor...I mean, Aliens Versus Predators!! :) It's every nerds dream! Besides, I'd rather make up my own mind about it then be an ignorant sheep and not watch it based on someone else

First, The resident doctor finds Ripley lying in the beach, then they find her escape pod, and he carries her to the compound, then oxes (I don't know how to spell the name of these Bull like big animals, I don't even know their name in English!) drag the escape pod out of the water in a almost primitive way (instead of a huge crane).
Also the ALIEN comes out of an ox (That big bull) instead of a dog! And they

I agree. I'm a "Predator" fan was disgusted and offended by the proceedings. A terrible film. The plot was stupid, the main characters were really used as sacrificial limbs instead of real people, and the film looked like it was made for 12-year olds. I didn't have high expectations for it once i realized the movie was rated PG-13. :)

**SPOILER ALERT**

The one scene that embarrased and tuned me out for the rest of the movie was when Sanaa Lathan, the main guide, teamed up with the Predator to kill off the aliens. Predator, friendly? As a good guy? From that point on I knew the Predator wasn't frightening all anymore.

A disgrace to both franchises. Notice that FOX didn't give a screen test to the critics before the film opened? This film should be burned...
