Perhaps the difference between the Bonds can be seen in how the get themselves out of a prison cell....

Connery (Goldfinger) - Uses his wits to trick the guard into opening the door.

Moore (Octopussy) - Uses the acid pen gadget from Q to remove the bars.

Dalton (The Living Daylights) - Gets rough and tough, down and dirty, etc.

Brosnan (Die Another Day) - Doesn't escape. Stays there for 14 months so that he can go on a personal revenge mission afterwards.

some might think (and they are wrong) that connery was the be all end all of james bond but moore had it over connery in a big way, he brought class and style to the part....something connery never could do

Connery had class in the role, but Roger had a very definitive style of it.

connery came off as a brutish "stupid policeman" and roger used suave- finesse in his take on the character

moore is better then connery as bond  pure and simple

I wonder if your view would change if you did read Fleming, given that you've stated elsewhere that you never have?

I'm not for a moment suggesting that you have no qualification to enter into a debate about who was the best Bond if you haven't read what Bond was intended to be. I guess that you get out of the film series what you want to get out of it. Fair enough. But it would be interesting if your perception changed as a result. You might still think Moore is closer - many folks do. But the brutal, stupid policeman is all over Fleming's stuff, y'know.

Well Connery created a cake and Moore added some cream over it. :)

Fair enough if Connery started the official series. Roger Moore added the comic styles to the cake.

Doesn't look like Brix's "line" is getting drawn any time soon.
